This is NOT a pineapple express. Notice the Pineapple in the name, which means that the jetstream comes straight from the tropics towards Oregon and hits us dead on with lots of warm rain.

This rain comes to us from Alaska. It's the polar bear express. verycold

Storm causes sewage overflow into Willamette River

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The rainstorm that hit the Pacific Northwest Monday has caused a sewage overflow into the Willamette River.

The Portland Bureau of Environmental Services is advising Portland residents to avoid contact with the river through at least Wednesday, which includes recreational activities such as swimming and jet skiing. Anyone who eats fish caught from the river should make sure to cook it thoroughly.

I always know when HAARP is being applied because my ears ring very intensely and have been since early this AM.
 Quoting: UseLess RepEATER

I don't keep up with HAARP very much, but I KNOW that my ears were LOUDLY "buzzy-ringing" this morning when I woke up at 4:30. This evening I heard we'd had a 3.2 earthquake this morning around 7-ish, centered at Kelly Point Park, which is near where the Columbia and Willamette Rivers join, a little NW of downtown Portland.
 Quoting: Eggcellent

I still am experiencing said "ringing" though Gakona's site didn't look too active: [link to www.haarp.alaska.edu]

HAARP Status still shows this area as very active:

I have lived in the Chehalis area for over 30 years and the rivers mentioned are prone to flooding just about every year or two. This is nothing uncommon here, as there is flooding from the Chehalis, the Skookumchuck and Newaukum rivers anytime we get prolonged heavy rains. The rivers mentioned farther north flood just about every year. It blew pretty good for a few hours and the rain was heavy. Not really anything out of the ordinary for winter storms in this area. Power went on and off a couple times for a few seconds, but other than that and some trees down, pretty normal winter stuff here.

Except it isn't winter yet. Though it tends to be very wet in November, this storm was definitely above average, but not historic.

a) this is mainly impacting coastal areas, as is 'normal' for an ARKstorm

b) if you look at how wide this thing is, and the ARK's get up to 400-500 miles wide average, you can see it's path tracking up through canada.

c) i watched all the videos and the reports from forest service and utility workers is, 'we have never seen trees come down at this rate, ever.' the trees were snapping off left and right as they were trying to clear other trees across the road...that's how the cop car got wrecked & exploded in flames.

consensus is that yes it's not totally rare for there to be a big rainstorm, but for all of it to come at once and with the extreme 'hurricane force' winds, no. 'hurricane force' being the phrase used by meteorologists.

oh my...thanks!

yep, not going anywhere...enjoy whatever break in the rain you can get!

people keep saying 'this is a normal winter storm' and well, it's not, but for the sake of argument consider that this is THE BEGINNING and we are going to be seeing a lot more coming in for at least the next week. look at the water vapor map kindly shared here.

landslides and power outages due to trees coming down and general instability from ground saturation is what to be careful of, to begin.

anyhow, raining pretty good here in pdx this morning, active flood notices down to 7 from last night's 11.
