She's pleased because Obama's visit gets her large amounts of "face". Thailand is a very traditional country and she's had to fight to keep from being marginalized as a clueless bimbo and dismissed as a stooge who is a surrogate for her brother Thaksin.

Of course, the problem is that she IS a clueless bimbo and a stooge/surrogate for Thaksin. In fact, the only reason she's in power is as a tactic to get Thaksin home from his self-imposed exile, absolved of his convictions for corruption, back in possession of the corrupt money the government took back, and back onto the political scene here. That is no secret here, and much of the political wrangling has been over the various efforts that have been made by her government to circumvent the law and minimize the influence of the judiciary.

Obama's visit helps immunize Yingluck against her political foes and endear her to her (leftist) constituencies here. These two things enhance her ability to get Thaksin back here, which again is the only reason she's in power.

So no surprise she's so pleased. She's hoping for a "happy ending" out of her meeting with Obama.

Interestingly, one of Yingluck and Thaksin's constituencies is largely the same as Obama's: Ignorant, uneducated bumpkins who see the government as a giant wealth-transfer machine. Maybe Yingluck will invite Obama to next year's "May Day" labor rally.

I was on Drudge and seen those pix. When logged on there ten minutes ago, they were the headline. One refresh later, nothing on the whole page about it.

In fact, I tried to search them out on Google and there were zero results. Wonder why its been scrubbed. Probably Moochelles doing lol.

Maybe Obama is American after all. You know we all fantasize about the wanton and demure Asian girls. No offence at all, its actually a compliment.
