Sigh, the God of the Old Testament was more like a natural force, like thunder or hurricane, that we don't understand why it strikes us or not.
Humans are so stupid, and their belief that they are not is the most ridiculous belief. As Wesley sez'd "Bring me a worm that can comprehend a man, and then I will show you a man that can comprehend the triune God."
