Are you fucking joking? It's the CEO Psychopaths who have billions of dollars but are just too fucking greedy to pay their workers the wages they deserve.

Fuck them!

After watching Restaurant Impossible, it's clear there are many who embark on their own business ventures without have ANY idea what they are doing or how to run a business!

I honestly must agree. It is a disgrace that 40 hours a week of honest hard work, regardless of the job should yield sufficient money to get by for a family of say 4.

That does not mean anything extra, I'm talking about basics. Food, clothing, shelter, utilities and transportation.

Personally I belive in salary compression. Meaning that the ratio of pay between any two human beings who perform an honest days labor should be held to something reasonable.

Pay the low end more and the upper end less, instead of all the money dribbling to the upper end managers, leaving nothing for the laborers.
 Quoting: scimitar

Then I say, go start a business and use that model and see how long you last. And as to the OP, do these businesses force people to work for them? Or do these people take these jobs, being grateful they have a job, and then feel entitled to blame the owners for their rate? And currently, unless you are very lucky, no wage is keeping up with inflation, that is the Government's fault.

That is too Socialist for me. I just say that a baseline that keeps up with inflation should be instituted. Stop trying to intentionally undermine and blur the basic premise with your Ayn Rand bullshit subterfuge.

You know you are just trying to spin.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1092220

This is not socialism...... really. And I am perfectly honest about it. If a person loves money and wants to be filthy rich then they can accomplish it with wise investments........ using their money to make more money.

But back to the original premise for a moment.......The basic question is......... how much more can one persons labor be worth over another? 10x, 100x, 1000x..... etc. For you is there a limit? if a company that has an organization of people, the ones that labor to produce the product and the management above them, then would you be okay if the bottom made minimum wage and the highest level of management above them made 5 million dollars a years? Be honest, because that kind of shit goes on believe me.

I'm not talking about fair, I'm talking about rational behaviour or do you still believe in slavery?

By the way I am a right of center moderate........ pure socialism can not work. Neither can pure capitalism.

What is the prime directive of a corporation?

To make money.

How much money?

As much as they can.

How much competition do they want?

None.

How much do they want to pay their employees?

As little as they can and still maintain reasonable production.

There is another side to this story as well......... Can you guess what it is?

This is the question to be asked.

Wages aren't keeping up with inflation: FACT.

Those who blame worker and the poor need their businesses boycotted and shut down.

Why do you deserve to own a business if you can't pay a living wage?

Keep your smarmy asshole answers to yourself if you can't explain why the Minimum wage should be allowed to remain far below the inflation rate.

Op,

Are you serious and do not realize that any business has to begin somewhere and beginning businesses cannot pay the glorified wages your entitled greedy self believes that you re entitled to receive.

What are you saying do you believe that someone creative enough to start a business and experiences growing pains should not exist then tell me who supports your entitled lazy backside.

If you fail to see the potential of a business and are unwilling to work then by all means start your own magically success business.

You money grubbing fuckers are insulting. To say that unless a person has a valuable skill then they don't deserve to live.

Its about time someone turned the "Entitlement" meme around on the money people and the "Yob Creators".

Your punk ass isn't Entitled to own a business if you can't pay a living wage but you are quick to point out who is a useless eater and who is dragging down society.

Slum lords and Slave wage employers are the biggest weight on society there ever was next to warmongers.

One day people will wake up and turn your rhetoric around on your ass like I just did.

hey asshole, if youd take 1 millisecond to go speak with a business owner you would find that the customers arent willing to pay anything to support healthy wages.

the customers that support the businesses are a bunch of cheap asses and that translates into low wages.

look what most assholes leave as a tip after they hog out on a buffet and leave a giant mess. Theres your answer.

the same applies in most other businesses.

Give the people more to spend and maybe they wouldn't be so cheap. Bad tippers aren't the demographic of most Americans either, but they do exist. What you are pointing out is that the problem is systemic as well as cyclical. It could be addressed that it's the business owners fault for not providing enough to its employees or that its the employees fault for not spending their money back into the system0 more liberally. The truth is, inflation on the dollar creates BOTH problems, so addressing one as the cause of the other is just sort-sighted and finger-pointing.

I think that's why lots of businesses start out with just family running it - because they can't afford to hire outside with a decent wage until they grow and start turning a bigger profit, have more customers, etc...

Problem is when it is not family that a person starting out wants to hire, then they are not directly benefiting from the profit and are only benefiting from the wage. That's why it's difficult to start a business, because if you or someone you trust is not there all the time, you have to trust the till to someone making minimum wage and lots of times they steal.

So if you're starting a business, prepare to make it your life day in and day out. And if you're hired to help at a small business, don't expect mega bucks.

Don't blame the people that are starting a business. They would pay a good wage if they could. The government regulation is strangling small businesses. If you want to work for a livable wage, maybe you should be voting for the true conserative candidate that will get government out of our business. You sure as hell don't want to elect a liberal progressive like King Barry, or 90% of the democraps in congress. Being a republicrat does not make them conservative. Their are progressives on both sides of the isle, and they all need to go. If they believe government is the answer, the obviously don't understand the question. Being for small government, and pro business is the most important thing to look for in a politician, but you don't see that often. If you voted for Oblabla, you deserve what you got, but the rest of us are suffering too. Here's a little something for anyone that voted for Oblame-a!

Those days seem long gone. I remember my father being able to support us on his blue collar job with my mother at home. Then during the seventies, she started doing babysitting on the side to supplement. More and more women had to start working. Dual incomes became the norm. And today, even with two working, it's a bigger struggle than ever - if you're lucky enough to be working.
 Quoting: Earth Daughter

Maybe I'm older than you, but I remember in the 50s and 60s my father worked 2 jobs to keep food on the table, and most of the time my mother worked too. We lived a very simple life, with lots of potatoes and beans, but we did what we had to do to survive. A got a paper route when I was old enough so I could get a bicycle and other things I could not have otherwise. It was not an easy life, but we had what we needed, and a little more. When I moved out on my own, I didn't even have a TV. I worked 10 to 12 hours a day in the eary 70s so I could afford a car and an apartment.
Now everyone thinks they need all good stuff as soon as they get out of school. Wake up and smell reality!

It is because of idiots like this that we need a comensurate minimum wage because no matter what there will always be mouth breathing idiots who will not be able to be trined for high end jobs yet they are still necessary even if to just clear the table.

This idiot just made the case for a higher minimum wage while trying to insult over tipping.

Why do people who can't afford it have 4 children? 4 children in a family supported by one wage earner in the 50's and 60's, then later two parents working could support a family of four, now in the current economy, I guess 4 children is only for rich folks to have.
