But what happens after the goal is reached? How does that play out?

I saw an article a couple weeks or so ago about micro-apartments in China - folks were working 40 hours or more a week and sharing a 10X10 foot apartment with a roommate or significant other - the bathroom and kitchen were combined.

I don't know any more about it for sure than you do (i.e. nothing) but I guess ...

It will be a lot like today but with more regulation. In other words, what's planned is more of the same. It will not be a cradle to grave welfare state, instead there will be lots of traps and pitfalls. Think of it as an IQ test, survival of the fittest.

But even for the survivors, it won't be as much fun as it is now, because you'll have to "earn" what you now take for free, take for granted.

There could be a lot of intrigue, though, because a lot of really competent people will try to subvert that shit, and I think they just might succeed, as they have done so far.

There's hope. But like recent weather, it will be rather adversarial and will require you to be on your toes more than before.

Yes, it's "voluntary" until it is implemented in the form of comprehensive plans in your area, which is already has happened.
