That's what I don't understand. This has been going on for years. Hamas throws some more rockets over and Israel retaliates. Hamas has made it clear they hate Israel and want them off the map. Israel knows Hamas will not honor a cease fire...they never do.
Isn't it that Israel wants the Gaza Strip so they can keep the high ridge as a defense so their enemies can't get to them so easily?

They really should go in and move these idiots back into Egypt. Then use the Sinai as a buffer zone, kind of like how America was going to use Canada as a buffer zone to nuke incoming bomber wings from the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

If so, then it's a classic move. Invade in early morning while the majority are asleep and by the time the sun rises, a full on ground invasion is under way. It would take some time for Hamas to muster their men and start fighting. Drones with night vision and infrared could pick up targets easier at night when it's cooler than during the day when temps are higher. Probably makes little difference with todays technology, but every advantage is not to be wasted in times of war.
