INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Authorities launched a homicide investigation Monday into the house explosion that killed a young couple and left numerous homes uninhabitable in an Indianapolis neighborhood.

Indianapolis Homeland Security Director Gary Coons made the announcement after meeting with residents of the subdivision where the Nov. 10 blast occurred and shortly after funerals were held for the two victims, who lived next door to the house where investigators believe the explosion originated.

"We are turning this into a criminal homicide investigation," Coons said, marking the first time investigators have called the case criminal.

Search warrants are being executed and official are looking for a white van that was seen in the subdivision on the day of the blast, Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said. Authorities are offering at least a $10,000 reward.

the male who was killed was a very intelligent individual,he designed and worked with RFID devices,plasma and microwave technology etc etc

i wonder if he was working for the government on some of these technologies and they stole his patents or ideas,or maybe he was a risk for exposing a project..

I meant this was either a bomb set off deliberately or an insurance job(using what ever method) gone horribly wrong.

We already know it was a high speed explosion that was a few feet off the ground. Reminded me of thermobaric by the debris pattern, it sucked the windows out of homes 4 doors down and across the street.

On a more serious note this could very have been a very poor hit that women's life. Unfortunately two others paid the price. Since gas explosions don't that kind of power, it could've very well be a hit gone wrong/overkill. Do we know anything about the house owner?
