Friend, Alcohol and Bacon in Islam is forbidden for many reasons, firstly comes health benefits.

As for Spiritual reasons, Alcohol, when you drink it you become distant from your "Mind", that is why you lose slight control of yourself and the more you drink the harder to control. This gives a chance to "Jinn" or "Demons" around you to easily tamper with your thoughts and cause you to do stupid acts like making the decision to drive, it is because that evil entity told you to do so. Consider them an Invisible alien race!

As for Pork, Muslims believe that eating pork causes Humans to feel less Jealousy regarding Dignity and Honor, because pigs are like that. As an example, in "Proper" Muslim societies, if a guy tried to mess with someones sister or mother in any way, this men of the family will bring hell to earth and stop this person before he gets any further. I wonder about the Divine's thoughts on pigs. Did He love them like we love cats and dogs? Did he think they were cute? Do their squeals distress Him? Are pigs more to Him than humans? Are humans more special than other creatures in the world? What is it about pigs?

Though this sounds silly and doesn't seem to relate, I have given a lot of thought as to why in the Old Testament it stipulates not to eat pork. The tape worm of pork is called Trichonosis and can cause disease in humans that is always fatal. Was it a helpful hint to help mankind survive; or, does it as in the example quoted, cause the human body to be impure allowing demons to enter the body causing one to do despicable deeds? Perhaps the absorbtion of the protiens of the pig does in someway influence the genetic makeup of the human beings?

We have to have energy in the form of food so isn't to live make one impure?

As a Muslim, I would say that Islam is a fair religion, and I'd consider my self an objective person. Do you really need alcohol to have a good time? I don't. Allah puts man at the top of the food chain, blessing us with the greatest intellect and dominion over all species, so why would anybody intoxicate themselves and suspend this gift - even temporarily? Fermented drinks have ruined lives. Islam makes a lot of sense if you just show a little patience.
