There's another side to this.

Here, in Egypt, there are scads of western women who have married Muslim Egyptian men. Almost all of them that I have met converted, then started looking for a Muslim husband.

Why?

Well, because it's his job to provide. Technically, in Islam, the wife's only duty is to make herself sexually available. She doesn't have to cook; he can hire someone to cook or do it himself. She doesn't have to clean; he can hire someone to clean or do it himself. She doesn't even have to nurse the babies; he can have that hired out, too.

So, Miss Western Convert marries Mr. Muslim and they set up house. He goes out and works, frequently two jobs, while she takes care of the home and the babies. He cannot and does not dare tell her to go get a job. If she does choose to work, her money is her own to do with as she likes - and since it's his duty to support the household, she's not throwing for a car payment or rent or even groceries with her salary.

Believe it or not, there are women out there who prefer traditional roles and would rather take care of their home and family. Islam guarantees they will have just that.

Another thing to think about is this: a Muslim husband who works day and night beats getting cut off of government handouts. I've seen welfare queens happily bag a Muslim husband and haul him back home.
