Had a bad vibe just about 10 minutes ago, for one off the coast of North Queensland.

The tsunami buoy was in alert mode earlier, and now it has been taken off line.

The last reading still shows up though.

Thanks for that. I liVe in the south-east corner of queensland ;) But I've got an uneasy feeling about this too. I've never seen it like this. If the Aus quake server is down, then the NZ one and american one's should still be picking up data from above us. Nothing all day.

sometimes I wonder if earthquakes are man made.

well, [link to www.ga.gov.au] is showing no equakes over the last 4 hours, and appears to be working fine. no system outage notices. *shrug* I don't know, but this is really freaky. I've been watching the equake site since march last year, and I've seen it quite for a few hours, but neVer this long....

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't California and Alaska count as part of the ring of fire? If so, they've had several small earthquakes. But yeah, outside of them, oddly calm everywhere else.

Anyway ..don't worry.

lots of quakes = doooom
no quakes = dooooom

there were a ton of quakes either side of this one, just smaller in magnitude. And Nothing unusual about those either - just the normal planetary tectonic movement.

You probably have your magnitude set to detect only large quakes - if you set it to view the smaller quakes like 1+ and 2+ mag quakes you will see that nothing stopped vis-a-vis earthquake activity while you were having your panic attack
