I went to Montreal (French Canada) one year and they were the most wildly rude people I've ever seen. One guy legitimately growled at a couple girls in our group. Growled like an animal lol.

...Until you pulled out your American money. Then, they were nice as could be.

Quick run down of the story is as follows.

Seems like a French woman among group of backpackers sitting at the back of the bus started singing a French song and the whole bus goes bat shit and started chanting "Aussie! Aussie! Aussie!" The backpackers thought everyone on the bus was being playful so they sang louder and then boom.

"speak English or die".

"fillet these cunts" while wielding a fishing knife.

"fuck off to your own country."

While other Aussies urged one man to knife the girl by giving him booze, cigarettes and a fishing knife. Man gets off the bus and throws a beer bottle near a window where the group of backpackers were sitting.

Pretty classy of the Australians if you ask me.

Well according to the eye witness he said
"The older crowd were accepting of the racism and the younger crowd were excited, it's like they were showing off to each other.".
It wasn't just the individuals, it was the whole bus load of people who said things like ;

"I'll fucking box cutter you right now doll."

"You've been told about four times, get off. Everyone on the bus wants to kill you and you're going to have to get off the bus eventually b***h have you worked that out yet?"

and the full comment of "speak English or die". was

"speak English or die motherfucker".

It's difficult to pin point just the individuals when they were actually a mob of Australians hating on backpacking tourists.

I am an Australian living in Europe and I am so upset, ashamed and completely embarrassed to have seen this. I'd like to say that I am also surprised but sadly, I'm not. Unfortunately, we love to hide behind our sunshine filled multi million dollar tourism campaigns and have the false perception that everyone else loves Australia and Australians and therefore casual everyday racism slips by unnoticed. Then inevitably it develops into something like what transpired in the video.

Now knowing first hand the difficulties faced living in a country where English is not the first language, all I can say is I am so sorry that these fuckwits exist and that I share the same nationality as them.
