Canaan was the entire area of Syria, Jordan, Israel...

That area or people was referred to as Plesheth, meaning 'purple' probably, because the natives used a particular dye they attained from sea shells to dye clothing. Palestina is the greek variation of Plesheth. Plesheth could also have meant migratory and it's mentioned numerous times in the bible.

The sickest thing to me is the effectiveness of this ploy. Wage your war from a civilian populace,watch the collateral damage happen and let the enemy deal with the negative spin. If we took all the "freedom fighters", Islamist and Jewish, out to a barren location and let them duke it out, maybe the people left behind would work it out between them. Lost in all of this is that the Israeli leaders precipitated this by assassinating the Hamas commander in chief. He probably has caused the deaths of many many people Islamic or Jewish, and maybe his death is justified. I believe that this action was to precipitate the end times in an attempt to fulfill prophecy.

Check out the above link. That explains a lot of prophecies concerning Israel that have come to pass recently, such as where God said the nation would be created in a day (which happened in 1948) and things of that sort.

I didn't notice if that site had the verse from Amos where it says that God would plant His people back in their land and they would NEVER be uprooted again. But it does list a lot of verses concerning the nation of Israel.

I'm not saying this present conflict is described in the Bible. But who knows, it hasn't ended yet. We don't know whether or not this will escalate into something bigger or not. The Bible doesn't describe EVERY conflict concerning Israel in its pages. I didn't see anything concerning the Six Day War in the Bible either, but it did happen. If EVERYTHING was recorded, I can't imagine how large that book would have to be.

What I do know is that God doesn't break His promises. The fact that present day Israel has been involved in conflicts with other nations since becoming a nation and has miraculously come out on top even when the odds were against her proves to me that God is protecting her and keeping His word when He said His people would never be uprooted again. The fact that Israel even continues to exist being surrounded by enemy forces proves that she is under divine protection. Psalm 83:4 says They say, “Come, let us wipe them out as a nation; let the name of Israel be remembered no more!”

I seem to recall leaders of Arab nations calling for the destruction of Israel, wiping Israel off the map. Little do they know that God knew what was in their hearts long before the words came out of their mouths.

God does say in Zechariah 12
8 In that day the Lord will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the one who is feeble among them in that day will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of the Lord before them. 9 And in that day I will set about to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

I for one have no intentions of even trying to take God's land from God's people! He's already recorded what will happen to those that DO try.

Islam doesn't want you. Palestinians are not Egyptians. They may be Islamists now but they were opposed to being run off their land, where they and their ancestors were born, long before the Islamic revival. They aren't defending their right to be, and to be in their own land, just to make Israel look bad. Israel looks bad because Israel has been bad. Israel has had 65 years to be good. They could have refrained from stealing peoples houses and lands and destroying their habitat with highways and settlements.

This is not about Islam. But a lot of radical Islam is about Palestine. People have a very basic need for justice and fair play. You can't treat indigenous people like prairie dogs or chipmunks without offending their basic humanity. A dog may slink off. A man will stand up.

This drama is so compelling because it is about basic fairness and justice.

No one liked to see Jews robbed and starved and worked and murdered in camps. It offended our humanity. Not because Jews are special but because they are human. Just like Palestinians.

This isn't about religion. The issue is older than religion. It is the very foundation of law and religion.

Every religion has a moral code which at its most basic level says we respect human rights. If Israelis and Palestinians behaved like Jews and Muslims and Christians they would not be shooting rockets or killing caged people. Just war theory based in Abrahamic religions forbids it. Their ancestors lived in relative peace together, respecting the stranger at the gate and the rights of the neighbor and basic humanistic principles. They had squabbles and tensions but not this abhorent dehumanizing cruelty. maybe Europe taught them this. It wasn't Islam and it was not Judaism and it was not indigenous Christianity. Maybe Rome taught them, or the Crusades, or the Third Reich.

We should wish for peace with justice, not because they are Jews or Muslims or Semites or descendants of Abraham but because we are human.

Islam is not coming to get you. Jews are not trying to control you. People are grappling and squabbling over parcels of land they could share.

The end will be one state. Israel has had time to see it coming and plan to incorporate the indigenous people of the land into a modern, democratic state. It chose to gamble on being able to drive them off instead. So it won't be very comfortable when the one state isn't what it might have been, with Palestinians and European immigrants n their own homes in a peaceful country.

i don't subscribe to any 'main' religion.. howver growing up i did seminary.... i recall that in the bible 2-3 (?) of GODs men were left in the streets for 2-3 (?) days ?..... kind of chilling the bodies behind the bikes.... not just that.. but the location.....
