Can a Christian explain this in the book of job
Satan Attacks Job’s Character
6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them. 7 And the Lord said to Satan, “From where do you come?”
So Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.”
8 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?”
9 So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11 But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!”
12 And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.”
So Satan went out from the presence of The Lord.

Ok I have a few questions here.
Now Job is described as

There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil.

So why would god let satan screw up this guys life?

Who are the sons of god who are presenting themselves?

What does satan mean by going to and fro on the earth and walking back and forth on it?

there is no hell. Christians are not qualified to explain anything in the corrupted bible. And the being called Satan, is not on the planet anymore, he was removed about 100 years ago. Lucifer was removed 2000 years ago. there are still plenty of dark antichrists though.

The actual Lord's Prayer Given by Jesus 2000 years ago.

"MY SPIRIT, YOU ARE OMNIPOTENT. YOUR NAME IS HOLY. MAY YOUR REALM BE INCARNATE IN ME. MAY YOUR POWER REVEAL ITSELF WITHIN ME, ON EARTH AND IN THE HEAVEN. GIVE ME TODAY MY DAILY BREAD, AND THUS, LET ME RECOGNIZE MY TRANSGRESSIONS AND ERRORS, AND I SHALL RECOGNIZE THE TRUTH. AND DO NOT LEAD ME INTO TEMPTATION AND CONFUSION, BUT DELIVER ME FROM ERROR. FOR YOURS IS THE REALM WITHIN ME AND THE POWER AND THE KNOWLEDGE FOREVER,
AMEN.

Okay, but that doesn't answer the question.
Why would god mess with a guy who did everything right, worshipped god, etc etc.
surely god should have been protecting Job not getting satan to take everything, kill his kids, and strike him down with boils from head to toe.

I mean seriously, what sort of a god lets that happen?

First off, please do something about your writing. As you can see, it's a mess. Stop with the 'highlights'. Thanks!!

So, God basically says, go ahead satan, do what you want to my servant and see that JOB WILL NOT CURSE GOD. No matter how much it sounds like Job's complaining for 40 chapters, the fact is, he never curses God.

Let's just say that you're known as a great, rich God lover. Well, surely, satan would just think that you love God simply because God made it so easy for you.

So, to PROVE Job's love, God allows satan to take away |EVERYTHING BUT Job's 'integrity'. Job STILL praises God even though it seems as though God has forsaken Job and allowed the enemy to destroy his life.

Job's friends insist that it is some sin that Job committed that is the cause for his misery, but Job believes in his integrity. He doesn't know WHY God is 'punishing' him, but he understands that ANYTHING GOD DOES is righteous.

Better?

Seriously, The man Job is a Christ type... Jesus created all things through His Fathers Love. Evil was after Jesus on The Cross and found Him very willing to OBEY The Father as Job did. In the end Jesus Christ wins the battle and we are His sons clean and washed in His Blood, because of all THE LOATHSOME BOILS of sin He carried to Hades and left there for all eternity.

So this is who Job is and the restoration of all things in the end just like Jobs life was restored. IN THE END CHRIST WILL COME TO YOU AND ME AND WE WILL HAVE OUR ETERNAL INHERITANCE

It can be summed up by what Job said. "Though He (God) slay me, yet will I trust him".

To prove a point, and to show Satan to be a false accuser, as well as Job's "friends" doing the same.

It also is a case study in trust: Do we really trust and worship God, or are we "fair weather friends" who only like Him if He does what we think he should? The world has been under Satan's jurisdiction since the fall of man, so no one should ever be surprised that bad things happen to good people.

Job, obviously, COULD HANDLE IT, as God already knew.

You people with the "God would NEVER do THAT" line seem to be missing some ingredient in the bigger picture.

Is God evil because he let your hamster die? COME ON!!

So, did God kill Job's family, or was it the Sabeans?

God just gave permission, doesn't mean satan had to DO it. satan DID all the stuff.

You need to simply PRETEND that God is righteous in ALL He does, and that any question you might have about motivation, or such, should be chalked up to the fact that we have limited knowledge. Sometimes God's righteousness MIGHT seem at odds with what you currently know, but that might be because you don't know all the details.

Job certainly didn't argue with God over it, why should you?

"It is better to suffer for doing good than for doing evil."

So, Job suffered. ok,... who doesn't? How many people have suffered what Job suffered, but WITHOUT Job's saving knowledge of his God?

There's more 'meat' in Job than just a cursory reading. This is why we should always seek out people who are farther along the ride than we are, which, you have done, and I applaud you for it.

Re: Can a Christian explain this in the book of job
^this^ plus also, Job is the oldest book in the bible and the sons of God are those beings that later cohabited with women in Genesis 6 and their offspring are the giants.

Satan was cast out of his POSITION OR JOB in heaven as the head angel... he is called the 'Prince of the Power of the air' and he roams the universe and the earth seeking to destroy God's work in people's lives.

He still has access to God's throne room where he comes and accusses believers before God. Jesus is present in the throne room as well and is our defender...He always wins in our defence when we sin because he already paid the price that the Father set for sin.

Soon, when the tribulation is beginning and God unleashes his wrath on earth (Rev. 6:12-17), Jesus will snatch his bride out and bring her to heaven(Rev. 7:9-17). Satan has to PERMANENTLY be kicked out of heaven(Rev.12:7-9) then and he goes after Jews and people who've become christians during the tribulation.

Its all metaphor. But in spirit, we may be on different frequencies but can see and interact with each other. The negatives/renegades were and are rounded up on planets where they hid out.

This is more about testing ground earth than anything.

Its easy to be Loving and Kind and Not Harm others in Good times, but keeping your cool and striving to be Peace and Love in hardships is the hardest thing and has the greatest growth potential.

I still don't understand why god chose to let satan put a man through all of that, I mean why not just destroy satan or stop him, why does god have to prove satan is a false accuser, the prince of darkness, etc etc.

I don't know, I just can't seem to get to grips with some of the the evil that happens in the Old Testament, especially considering god seems to have a big active role in it.

Re: Can a Christian explain this in the book of job
It is righteousness and acceptance of our place in God’s creation that are paramount, not self gratification, wealth, or physical well being. Job was a righteous man and Satan’s challenge to God was proven false.

Our souls are eternal. As tough as it may seem to endure hardship during our physical life here on this Earth, it is fleeting and insignificant in the light of eternity. God is not uncaring in this perspective but patient, instructive, merciful, and loving. The book of Job was a lesson for both humanity here on Earth and God’s other creations in the heavens. Yes, even the angels who also have free will need to learn their place in God’s creation. That is where Satan failed. That is where God triumphed.

He is God. All else is his Creation. This was also Job’s personal lesson as well as ours. Being blessed more than any other man on earth at the time he questioned why God would allow everything to be taken away from him to which God finally replied, “who are you to ask”? Job recognized his place and was blessed more than he had been before. So, even through the extreme hardship Job endured during his life time he was blessed to prosper even more and that what still just during the tiny amount of finite time he had here on Earth.

Just because something bad happens does not mean God is directly responsible (it was Satan who cursed Job) and whatever low point you might reach is not necessarily permanent even in this short life. Your soul will reap the benefit of righteousness for an eternity.

Re: Can a Christian explain this in the book of job
Sorry Everyone tries to answer with long winded poetic writings but never really give you a clear answer. They don't really know the answer but don't want to fall short either. Keep silent.

The Sons of God are The Angels of the Lord and Satan was also among them.

These Angels are the same that go throughout the Earth guiding some and fighting against others. As is mentioned in Daniel about Gabriel and the prince of Persia (both Angels)
Angels Guide and Persuade men to do the Will of God both Good and Evil as God deems necessary for our benefit.

Do you want to know what it is like in Heaven? How the Angels interact with God? How Satan came about?

Then Study the Book of Esther. This book is similar to those pictures that have pictures hidden within and if you stare at it long enough you begin to see what the picture is.

All though Esther is based off of actual events. These events happened in order to give a physical picture of spiritual events.

Ill give you a hint to Start with.
The King in Esther is God
Haman is Satan.

Job will become clearer after reading and understanding what Esther is.

Anyway God does know what Job will do but Satan does not. God proves Satan Wrong. This is for all of our benefit. So that we Understand how Satan works and interacts with God. Trying and testing us Constantly. The same thing happens to us everyday on a smaller scale.

Because Satan looks for self justification in showing that we also have fault. Just like every human I've ever met when making a mistake we look to find fault in others to justify ourselves.

Satan's End is Death and he wants to Turn his sentence around or bring all of Gods children with him in the process. Our Conscience Condemns us and it is our conscience that will hold us in hell. In other words Free your mind and Free your spirit.

Walking To and Fro.
Answer is he is Free to wander anywhere in the earth North, South, East and West. Satan has power over the earth. However this power is God given. Remember David and Bathsheba? The Prophet comes to David and Says In his Parable that a Traveler came to the Rich man. Satan is the Traveler, walking To and Fro.

But read Esther if you can get the real meaning of it then So much will be cleared up in understanding God and how He works.

Re: Can a Christian explain this in the book of job
there is no hell. Christians are not qualified to explain anything in the corrupted bible. And the being called Satan, is not on the planet anymore, he was removed about 100 years ago. Lucifer was removed 2000 years ago. there are still plenty of dark antichrists though.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 15695099

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10777137

I still don't understand why god chose to let satan put a man through all of that, I mean why not just destroy satan or stop him, why does god have to prove satan is a false accuser, the prince of darkness, etc etc.

I don't know, I just can't seem to get to grips with some of the the evil that happens in the Old Testament, especially considering god seems to have a big active role in it.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 15695099

It would be unrighteous for God to simply 'destroy' satan (or, is it the point that angelic beings CAN'T be destroyed?, hence the 'chain' in the Book of Joel??). Apparently, there is protocol in Heaven?

You maybe just don't understand who/what satan is,... perhaps it is between God and satan and we simply need to 'accept' a few things about the greatness and grandeur of IT ALL?

NO!! Scratch what I just wrote. I think ....

sorry, i have an emerge, gotta go...try to back later...sorry....

But the bit I don't understand is that Job had faith through all this that god would help and protect him, he never faltered once, and yet god didn't do anything to help, that's the bit I don't get.
Esther is a whole new deal.
I thought Esther was about how the queen who convinced the king of Persia to spare the Jews from anhialation and turned the tables on the plotters that Mordacai had uncovered no?

Re: Can a Christian explain this in the book of job

It's a coded book, about Daniels dream...where he saw himself...in the future.

Job 1
[6] Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

Job.1
[1] There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.

Think carfully about that opener.

Esther 1

1 Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus (God The Father) (this was the Ahasuerus who reigned over one hundred and twenty

Description: world Map with Latitude and Longitude
(Earth has 120 zones of 30 degrees and seven continents)

-seven provinces, from India (The body of water) to Ethiopia), (Mixed races)2 in those days when King Ahasuerus sat on the throne of his kingdom, which was in Shushan the citadel, (The Kingdom Of Heaven, The High Tower) 3 that in the third year of his reign he made a feast for all his officials and servants—the powers of Persia and Media, (Sin and death) the nobles, and the princes of the provinces being before him— 4 when he showed the riches of his glorious kingdom and the splendor of his excellent majesty for many days, one hundred and eighty days in all.
5 And when these days were completed, the king made a feast lasting seven days (The time from the finished creation to the end of time) for all the people who were present in Shushan the citadel, from great to small, in the court of the garden of the king’s palace. (Eden) 6 There were white and blue linen curtains (Gods’ Holy presence) fastened (Secured) with cords of fine linen (Holiness) and purple (Royalty) on silver rods and marble pillars; and the couches were of gold and silver (Purity and sin) on a mosaic (A pattern) pavement (The surface of the earth is a mosaic) of alabaster, (Clay) turquoise, (The great seas) 7 And they served drinks in golden vessels, (HOLINESS) each vessel being different from the other, with royal wine in abundance, according to the generosity of the king. 8 In accordance with the law, the drinking was not compulsory; for so the king had ordered all the officers of his household, that they should do according to each man’s pleasure. (Choose you this day whom you will serve)
9 Queen Vashti (The old covenant) also made a feast for the women (The Seven Candlesticks) in the royal palace which belonged to King Ahasuerus. (The Head = God The Father)
10 On the seventh day, (Creation was completed) when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, (The multitudes) Biztha, (That are bound) Harbona, (His destruction, His Sword) Bigtha, (The gift of God) Abagtha, (The Father of the Winepress) Zethar, (Who examines and beholds) and Carcas, (The covering of The Lamb) seven eunuchs who served in the presence of King Ahasuerus, (God The Father) 11 to bring Queen Vashti (The old covenant/ the law of sin and death) before the king, wearing her royal crown, (The Ten Commandments) in order to show her beauty to the people and the officials, for she was beautiful to behold. 12 But Queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s command brought by his eunuchs; therefore the king was furious, and his anger burned within him.
13 Then the king said to the wise men who understood the times (for this was the king’s manner toward all who knew law and justice, (Who knew the law and it’s penalties) 14 those closest to him being Carshena, (The Lamb) Shethar, (Putrified and searching = sin & death) Admatha, (A cloud of death) Tarshish, (Contemplation and examination = repentance) Meres, (An abcess of pus that is inflamed = the grave) Marsena, (The bitterness of a bramble) and Memucan, (Improverished of truth = Satan) the seven princes of Persia and Media, who had access to the king’s presence, and who ranked highest in the kingdom): 15 “What shall we do to Queen Vashti, according to law, because she did not obey the command of King Ahasuerus brought to her by the eunuchs?”
16 And Memucan (Satan who is impoverished of the truth) answered before the king and the princes: “Queen Vashti has not only wronged the king, but also all the princes, and all the people who are in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus. 17 For the queen’s behavior will become known to all women, (To the seven churches) so that they will despise their husbands (The seven churches could not be faithful to God because of Vashti) in their eyes, when they report, ‘King Ahasuerus commanded Queen Vashti to be brought in before him, but she did not come.’ 18 This very day the noble ladies (The seven churches) of Persia and Media (The seven were under/ in bondage to the law of sin and death) will say to all the king’s officials that they have heard of the behavior of the queen. Thus there will be excessive contempt and wrath. (This wrath was poured out on Christ) 19 If it pleases the king, let a royal decree go out from him, and let it be recorded in the laws of the Persians and the Medes, (Recorded in the law of sin and death) so that it will not be altered, that Vashti shall come no more before King Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal position to another who is better than she. 20 When the king’s decree which he will make is proclaimed throughout all his empire (for it is great), (All creation) all wives (The seven) will honor their husbands, both great and small.” (All mankind will worship Jesus Christ)
21 And the reply pleased the king and the princes, and the king did according to the word of Memucan. (Satan) 22 Then he sent letters to all the king’s provinces, to each province in its own script, and to every people in their own language, that each man should be master in his own house, (It is appointed for a man once to die) and speak in the language of his own people. Which is more important and long lasting; the temporary physical well being of your body or the condition of your enternal soul?

After the ordeal, Job was again blessed more than he was before as far as his physical wealth and health were concerned. God's ultimate safegaurd for us though is eternal. What better crown in the after life to wear than to have it said that you tempted by the father of lies and put through hell on earth and came out squeeky clean? How much more wealthy and protected is he now where he is with that feather in his cap?
