Read John Allegro - scholar, once the "Preeminent" authority on Dead sea scroll research. He told the truth of what they said.

He's a FreakMason w/nooo interest in the truth.

The DSS confirmed the Protestant's OT manuscripts also found in the Hebrew Torah. But not the Vatican's version, which differs.

Not to mention the historical accuracy of the Bible and the many hundreds of Prophecy's fulfilled. Only a liar after knowing the odds would deny it's veracity.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28100552

What "prophecies" have been fulfilled and who made them. If they did come true, how do you know that they were originally stated by the prophet you say they were. The questions could go on and on cause there is no concrete answer to them unless you witnessed the prophecies being made or you made them yourself.

Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see.

There is no such thing as the truth because the "truth" is distorted by conscious interpretation.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 13950156

Well here for example.

Unique among all books ever written, the Bible accurately foretells specific events-in detail-many years, sometimes centuries, before they occur. Approximately 2500 prophecies appear in the pages of the Bible, about 2000 of which already have been fulfilled to the letter—no errors.

(The remaining 500 or so reach into the future and may be seen unfolding as days go by.) Since the probability for any one of these prophecies having been fulfilled by chance averages less than one in ten (figured very conservatively) and since the prophecies are for the most part independent of one another, the odds for all these prophecies having been fulfilled by chance without error is less than one in 102000 (that is 1 with 2000 zeros written after it)!

God is not the only one, however, who uses forecasts of future events to get people's attention. Satan does, too. Through clairvoyants (such as Jeanne Dixon and Edgar Cayce), mediums, spiritists, and others, come remarkable predictions, though rarely with more than about 60 percent accuracy, never with total accuracy. Messages from Satan, furthermore, fail to match the detail of Bible prophecies, nor do they include a call to repentance.

The acid test for identifying a prophet of God is recorded by Moses in Deuteronomy 18:21-22. According to this Bible passage (and others), God's prophets, as distinct from Satan's spokesmen, are 100 percent accurate in their predictions. There is no room for error.

As economy does not permit an explanation of all the Biblical prophecies that have been fulfilled, what follows in a discussion of a few that exemplify the high degree of specificity, the range of projection, and/or the "supernature" of the predicted events. Readers are encouraged to select others, as well, and to carefully examine their historicity.

(1) Some time before 500 B.C. the prophet Daniel proclaimed that Israel's long-awaited Messiah would begin his public ministry 483 years after the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem (Daniel 9:25-26). He further predicted that the Messiah would be "cut off," killed, and that this event would take place prior to a second destruction of Jerusalem. Abundant documentation shows that these prophecies were perfectly fulfilled in the life (and crucifixion) of Jesus Christ. The decree regarding the restoration of Jerusalem was issued by Persia's King Artaxerxes to the Hebrew priest Ezra in 458 B.C., 483 years later the ministry of Jesus Christ began in Galilee. (Remember that due to calendar changes, the date for the start of Christ's ministry is set by most historians at about 26 A.D. Also note that from 1 B.C. to 1 A.D. is just one year.) Jesus' crucifixion occurred only a few years later, and about four decades later, in 70 A.D. came the destruction of Jerusalem by Titus.

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 105.)*

(2) In approximately 700 B.C. the prophet Micah named the tiny village of Bethlehem as the birthplace of Israel's Messiah (Micah 5:2). The fulfillment of this prophecy in the birth of Christ is one of the most widely known and widely celebrated facts in history.

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 105.)

(3) In the fifth century B.C. a prophet named Zechariah declared that the Messiah would be betrayed for the price of a slave—thirty pieces of silver, according to Jewish law-and also that this money would be used to buy a burial ground for Jerusalem's poor foreigners (Zechariah 11:12-13). Bible writers and secular historians both record thirty pieces of silver as the sum paid to Judas Iscariot for betraying Jesus, and they indicate that the money went to purchase a "potter's field," used—just as predicted—for the burial of poor aliens (Matthew 27:3-10).

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 1011.)

(4) Some 400 years before crucifixion was invented, both Israel's King David and the prophet Zechariah described the Messiah's death in words that perfectly depict that mode of execution. Further, they said that the body would be pierced and that none of the bones would be broken, contrary to customary procedure in cases of crucifixion (Psalm 22 and 34:20; Zechariah 12:10). Again, historians and New Testament writers confirm the fulfillment: Jesus of Nazareth died on a Roman cross, and his extraordinarily quick death eliminated the need for the usual breaking of bones. A spear was thrust into his side to verify that he was, indeed, dead.

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 1013.)

(5) The prophet Isaiah foretold that a conqueror named Cyrus would destroy seemingly impregnable Babylon and subdue Egypt along with most of the rest of the known world. This same man, said Isaiah, would decide to let the Jewish exiles in his territory go free without any payment of ransom (Isaiah 44:28; 45:1; and 45:13). Isaiah made this prophecy 150 years before Cyrus was born, 180 years before Cyrus performed any of these feats (and he did, eventually, perform them all), and 80 years before the Jews were taken into exile.

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 1015.)

(6) Mighty Babylon, 196 miles square, was enclosed not only by a moat, but also by a double wall 330 feet high, each part 90 feet thick. It was said by unanimous popular opinion to be indestructible, yet two Bible prophets declared its doom. These prophets further claimed that the ruins would be avoided by travelers, that the city would never again be inhabited, and that its stones would not even be moved for use as building material (Isaiah 13:17-22 and Jeremiah 51:26, 43). Their description is, in fact, the well-documented history of the famous citadel.

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 109.)

(7) The exact location and construction sequence of Jerusalem's nine suburbs was predicted by Jeremiah about 2600 years ago. He referred to the time of this building project as "the last days," that is, the time period of Israel's second rebirth as a nation in the land of Palestine (Jeremiah 31:38-40). This rebirth became history in 1948, and the construction of the nine suburbs has gone forward precisely in the locations and in the sequence predicted.

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 1018.)

(8) The prophet Moses foretold (with some additions by Jeremiah and Jesus) that the ancient Jewish nation would be conquered twice and that the people would be carried off as slaves each time, first by the Babylonians (for a period of 70 years), and then by a fourth world kingdom (which we know as Rome). The second conqueror, Moses said, would take the Jews captive to Egypt in ships, selling them or giving them away as slaves to all parts of the world. Both of these predictions were fulfilled to the letter, the first in 607 B.C. and the second in 70 A.D. God's spokesmen said, further, that the Jews would remain scattered throughout the entire world for many generations, but without becoming assimilated by the peoples or of other nations, and that the Jews would one day return to the land of Palestine to re-establish for a second time their nation (Deuteronomy 29; Isaiah 11:11-13; Jeremiah 25:11; Hosea 3:4-5 and Luke 21:23-24).

This prophetic statement sweeps across 3500 years of history to its complete fulfillment—in our lifetime.

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 120.)

(9) Jeremiah predicted that despite its fertility and despite the accessibility of its water supply, the land of Edom (today a part of Jordan) would become a barren, uninhabited wasteland (Jeremiah 49:15-20; Ezekiel 25:12-14). His description accurately tells the history of that now bleak region.

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 105.)

(10) Joshua prophesied that Jericho would be rebuilt by one man. He also said that the man's eldest son would die when the reconstruction began and that his youngest son would die when the work reached completion (Joshua 6:26). About five centuries later this prophecy found its fulfillment in the life and family of a man named Hiel (1 Kings 16:33-34).

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 107).

(11) The day of Elijah's supernatural departure from Earth was predicted unanimously—and accurately, according to the eye-witness account—by a group of fifty prophets (2 Kings 2:3-11).

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 109).

(12) Jahaziel prophesied that King Jehoshaphat and a tiny band of men would defeat an enormous, well-equipped, well-trained army without even having to fight. Just as predicted, the King and his troops stood looking on as their foes were supernaturally destroyed to the last man (2 Chronicles 20).

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 108).

(13) One prophet of God (unnamed, but probably Shemiah) said that a future king of Judah, named Josiah, would take the bones of all the occultic priests (priests of the "high places") of Israel's King Jeroboam and burn them on Jeroboam's altar (1 Kings 13:2 and 2 Kings 23:15-18). This event occurred approximately 300 years after it was foretold.

(Probability of chance fulfillment = 1 in 1013).

Since these thirteen prophecies cover mostly separate and independent events, the probability of chance occurrence for all thirteen is about 1 in 10138 (138 equals the sum of all the exponents of 10 in the probability estimates above). For the sake of putting the figure into perspective, this probability can be compared to the statistical chance that the second law of thermodynamics will be reversed in a given situation (for example, that a gasoline engine will refrigerate itself during its combustion cycle or that heat will flow from a cold body to a hot body)—that chance = 1 in 1080. Stating it simply, based on these thirteen prophecies alone, the Bible record may be said to be vastly more reliable than the second law of thermodynamics. Each reader should feel free to make his own reasonable estimates of probability for the chance fulfillment of the prophecies cited here. In any case, the probabilities deduced still will be absurdly remote.

Given that the Bible proves so reliable a document, there is every reason to expect that the remaining 500 prophecies, those slated for the "time of the end," also will be fulfilled to the last letter. Who can afford to ignore these coming events, much less miss out on the immeasurable blessings offered to anyone and everyone who submits to the control of the Bible's author, Jesus Christ? Would a reasonable person take lightly God's warning of judgment for those who reject what they know to be true about Jesus Christ and the Bible, or who reject Jesus' claim on their lives?

*The estimates of probability included herein come from a group of secular research scientists. As an example of their method of estimation, consider their calculations for this first prophecy cited:

Since the Messiah's ministry could conceivably begin in any one of about 5000 years, there is, then, one chance in about 5000 that his ministry could begin in 26 A.D.
Since the Messiah is God in human form, the possibility of his being killed is considerably low, say less than one chance in 10.
Relative to the second destruction of Jerusalem, this execution has roughly an even chance of occurring before or after that event, that is, one chance in 2.

Hence, the probability of chance fulfillment for this prophecy is 1 in 5000 x 10 x 2, which is 1 in 100,000, or 1 in 105.

I knew my last question was going to open up the flood gates for bible passages. Hearing people say things like "3000 years ago Prophet X made a prophecy that eventually came true 2500 years ago" is silly. Particularly when the source of your so called information is the bible which has been rewritten, edited and translated numerous times. In response to your argument that Prophecies came true my argument is based on Occam's Razor. Is it not possible that instead of people having documented supernatural forethought, (which in my *personal experience* have never witnessed anything close to such)those forethoughts and the documented fulfillment of those forethoughts (prophecies) were added at later dates(council of nicea)to increase the perceived validity of the bible in order to gain power and control?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 13950156

as much as i want to believe the truth, I scrolled down to find this very argument.
It just convinces me that power must be generated from within, everything else is secondary to this.

Ever heard of the Dead Sea Scrolls? These more than 2000 year old scrolls where found in a cave and have been studied by thousands of scientists.
They contain most of the Old Testament and when compared to a modern translation only a few minor differences are found.
This scientifically puts to rest that the Bible has been altered over the centuries.
God certainly watches over His word.

Oh you silly gullible sheeple!! Go find the book entitled "The Dead Sea Scrolls Deception", read it and then make a decision.

Description:

The oldest Biblical manuscripts in existence, the Dead Sea Scrolls were found in caves near Jerusalem in 1947, only to be kept a tightly held secret for nearly fifty more years, until the Huntington Library unleashed a storm of controversy in 1991 by releasing copies of the Scrolls. In this gripping investigation authors Baigent and Leigh set out to discover how a small coterie of orthodox biblical scholars gained control over the Scrolls, allowing access to no outsiders and issuing a strict "consensus" interpretation.

The authors' questions begin in Israel, then lead them to the corridors of the Vatican and into the offices of the Inquisition. With the help of independent scholars, historical research, and careful analysis of available texts, the authors reveal what was at stake for these orthodox guardians: The Scrolls present startling insights into early Christianity—insights that challenge the Church's version of the "facts."

More than just a dramatic expose of the intrigues surrounding these priceless documents, The Dead Sea Scrolls Deception presents nothing less than a new, highly significant perspective on Christianity.

I have a copy of the dead sea scrolls, but I would not choose to disavow the bible over it... for one thing, i think there was some demonic issue associated with it--can't remember now--a murder or vendetta the supposed discoverers were involved in?

God is in control-if it is not in the bible, there may be a reason... I have read many of the apocryphal texts, Kolbrin, Pistis Sophia, etc...

you have to decide: do you understand that there is a supernatural component to this reality or not?

If not, read Graham Hancock's "Supernatural," check out the work of Rick Strassman... and research the occult more... shamans, tesla, Madam Blavatsky--all downloaded info from the supernatural... this is the basis for many scientific discoveries and is generally a "red flag" to demon spirits influencing/distracting...

now, once you understand that the supernatural is real and impacting events here... "channeling" books, science and arts into the culture all the time, consider who is running this aspect of the game... fallen angels and lucifer should be the end result of this search...

then consider the abduction phenomenon: over 400 cases where calling on Christ alleviates the sufferer... in some cases stopping the abduction in-process...

then consider that Christianity is often targeted by the "aliens"... not other religions, just this one...

then consider the vatican is corrupt at its head, as are most churches...

now it can become pretty clear that there is another alternative to the real story about the dead sea scrolls...

there are many more angles to consider... I have compiled some of them on this thread:

Because when I was 11 or so, I was walking up some stairs with my bestfriend. We had been going to church together for a year. At the bottom of the stairs one of us said, "hey, by some miracle, let's see if God makes us think of the same song together" Then we both started singing a random verse of a TV show's theme song. Not the beginning verse or first line of the TV show's theme song, it was like the middle verse which would be extremely unlikely! Unless God assisted. And he did. And I believe because I know for sure.

There you go! You asked.

The dead sea scrolls are much different than the bible and old testament. They are works of christian gnosticism. The word gnostic comes from the Greek word Gnosis, which means knowledge or understanding in the sense of spiritual enlightenment. Christian Gnostics did not view Jesus as a god, rather as an enlightened man such as the Guatama Buddha. They were initially suppressed by the Ecclesiastical Christians because if the people believed that they could potentially become a god while still living, then the organizational structure of the Roman Orthodox Church would be destroyed. The Gnostic Christians also believed that the "resurrection" should not be taken literally. They view it metaphorically as the rising from spiritual death to an enlightened state. The Gnostic Church even referred the theology of a literal resurrection as the "faith of fools".

I like to go to book stores and help them out. I move the Bibles to the Fiction section.

It's easy to have fictional prophecies fulfilled by fictional characters. Robert Jordon's "Wheel of Time" is an excellent example. A close second is the bible.

Religion is used to control you. Break your chains and be Free. There is no evidence that anything claimed in the big religions is fact.

The pope is still running the Roman Empire, it never "fell", it just reorganized.

God never said "let there be a religion that tells you how to live, who to kill, and takes your money."

God Speaks to men seeking enlightenment (plants help). The plants are illegal because religion would lose its control if men chose to be free.

The Bible is the ultimate consiracy book there is, if yould take the time to read it for what it is I'm sure God would allow you to see his truth. He says in the end times he will unleash the holy spirit in mans heart.

People believe the 10 commandments are there as rules you must follow to live life. If you understand the bible it shows you that no matter what you do in life your a sinner and need a saviour. Its a free gift from God having Jesus as a saviour. You can reject him or you can accept. Its not rocket science. Why you need to spend hour discrediting it according to what the satanic system has done under the veil of Christ is beyond me.

The bible has 45,000 items that still to this day can be touched and examined, there are 25,000 places and referances that can be traveled to or visited. The Bible is a collection of books written by 40 different authors that show a divine mind shared experiences with each person that lived over a 1500 year period which revealed a message to people. Most of the history of Jesus is not denied by the Roman Catholic history books. He walked on earth so when you say its fictional your true nature of your post shows your heart.

Well, it's a good thing Christianity is not a religion, it's a person.
So, I wonder where we fit in on their intelligence quotient. Sir, it is obvious who your allegeance is to, as I am inclined to infer from this thread that you see man's measure of intelligence as legitimate.
You exalt man as supreme, and that's your prerogative (free will).
The very people who say that we evolved from mud on a rock, then from monkeys, are the same folk who designed this Litmus test, if you will.
These are the same guys who determined at one time the universe was infinite, as they failed to realize that time cannot exist in infinity (as it operates outside of time).
These same men concluded the earth is 4.5 billion years old, but can't explain why the moon is still with us, as we are losing it to the tune of about 2 inches per year (it would've been long gone at that rate).
They say the sun is approximatey the same age as the earth, but its rate of collapse would have it gone within millions of years.
They can't explain the retograde revolution of several planets in our solar system as the so called big bang's angular momentum would have everything spinning in the same direction.
They can't explain why the earth was fine tuned for life, and the infinitesimally small chance of its existence without a grand designer's touch.

I may be dumb, but it would take a heck of lot more faith for me to believe what those guys believe.

They (the scientist, intellectuals) expaln away our chance existense with the multi-verse theory. The operative word here is theory (unprovable).

They can't explain the existence of consciousness.

They can't explain how the so called 'Big Bang' even occured, if everything (time, space and matter) came into existence in an instant. So, this indicates nothing existed before then, and the last I checked...it's hard to get something from nothing. I don't know, but this smacks of something supernatural prior to the so called natural. It would take way more faith to believe their theory.

No one can explain why intermediate fossils are absent from the so called evoltionary path. They can't explain the Cambrian explosion. They can't explain why mutations were good during evolution, but bad everywhere else.

Now, why do I believe that Jesus is God? Because he said so, and no one has been able to prove him a liar.

Religion is a Satanic invention, and man's attempt to find God, be God, and be good.

Christ came to find us, and tell us about God...

Hey, don't let our stupidity bother you, you just keep on following men, who fluoridates your water, taxes you to death, work you to death, enslaves you in debt, seeks to control you for his benefit, aduterates your food (with additives, GMO, etc.), pasteurizes (kills) your milk and OJ, steals your privacy, vaccinates you (but you probably think vaccinations are good), medicates you (but you probably believe the pharmaceutical companies seek to save mankind, and are far from being profiteers), socially engineer your throughts with media (tell you what to buy, who to hate, who your enemies are, the dollar is going to exist and stay strong forever so don't buy gold or silver, keep contributing to your 401K, etc.), views you as a slave, and steadily seeks to take away your inalienable rights, etc.

Sir, there are no errors in the Bible regardless of translation. The Bible is easily paralleled. However, if you can prove your alleged innacuracies, please do so.
The Bible can't be inaccurate simply because you say so, proof must rendered.
I've pretty much read every version and can easily attest to their consistency. Obviously, there may be some minor details not 100% translatable, but the context is never lost. Now, please don't take my word, it is very easy to traverse the Internet to find data that backs my claim up.
If I had a nickel for every non-beliver that has used your 'Bible has been rewritten' claim, I'd be a millionaire.
If that was the case, this anti-Christ world would've put the scripture to sleep a long time ago.
If Jesus had not risen from the dead, his body would have been taken and dragged throughout the streets of Jerusalem, and we'd be reading about it today, or would not have ever known Jesus (I believe the latter). There'd be no church, as the church and those who died spreading the Gospel (who would die for a lie?), would not be here either.
The scripture is backed by very significant archeological evidence, do your research, as it is indisputable.
Everything that the prophets, Jesus, the apostles, and Paul did catapulted the church to the reality you see today. Paul stated that 'had Christ not died and risen, our faith would've been futile (1 Cor. 15:17), or we are all liars. It would take way more faith for me to believe your claim, so I'll stick with Christ, his story is worth the risk, not your story.
Please don't make the mistake of dying in your sins, just because you haven't done your own research. Please, don't take someone elses boxed un-belief and use it as your own. Search the scripture, and pray that Jesus reveals himself to you, then see what happens.
Everybody prays under fire in foxholes, everybody!!!!!

The original texts were not written in English. It is hard for me to believe that during the long sequential process of translating the book from Hebrew to Latin and eventually to the current state of English, that there was no major errors.

Even if you can prove their theories to be incorrect, they are still more logical than the idea of a supernatural spirit in the sky that judges everyone's thoughts and actions. I feel like you are only looking at scientific theories that have simple answers to why they are untrue. Those scientific ideas you stated are still THEORIES, they are not scientific LAWS yet. There are countless theories out there and it would be impossible for the religious creationist world to disprove all of them because we cant even prove all of them; we don't have technology to do that yet. That is why they are maintained as theories.

Not to mention the historical accuracy of the Bible and the many hundreds of Prophecy's fulfilled. Only a liar after knowing the odds would deny it's veracity.

Well, I have news for you. The bible was never meant to be taken literally. You know what's so nice about so called "prophecies?" TPTB take a look at them and say - "Oh, look, this is what the stupid sheeple expect to happen. Well, let's not disappoint them!" Geez man - if you KNOW what people expect, how easy is it to make it happen???!!!! WAKE UP!!
 Quoting: beebee

Yeah they can "make it happen". "they" can also, and have also suppressed the book itself, and when that failed made sure most interpretation went forth crooked. Likely any fulfillment "they" did, based on "what ppl expect" would fulfill artficially-created wrong expectations of true prophesy. Those with accurate knowledge of the Bible will be much harder to fool, though.

Where are these free-spirits you describe? they must not depend on grants, tenure, or peer-reviewed publishing. Groupthink among scientists is much more the norm than you suggest. Narrowness of specialties requires depending on belief in what you're told by peers in other narrow specialties.

Tyranny Law #1:
"Any power that can be abused will be abused."

Tyranny Law #2:
"Abuse always expands to fill the limits of resistance to it."

Tyranny Law #3:
"If people don't resist the abuses of others, they will have no one to resist the abuses of themselves, and tyranny will prevail."

Humans are just beginning to scratch the surface of the realities and physics of the universe. Even the most intelligent people to ever live still knew relatively nothing. Its funny how the more religious someone is the lower their I.Q. is, (as displayed by link). A lot of the problems in the world are caused by these less intelligent people riling each other up and using illegitimate justification to do away with people who don't have the same systems of belief. With all the complexities and loop holes of this illusion we call reality, (and how little we know about it) it is perplexing to me how anyone could be 100 percent sure that their beliefs and way of life are correct. It is perplexing to me that people can be 100 percent sure of anything.

Re: Why are people so positively sure that their religion is true???? RELIGITARDS MUST READ
There can only be One God therefore only One Church, the mystical body of Christ worldwide, all imitations fall away.

The word Church in your mind is not what you think it is, stale, bondage, retard, pathetic, the way everyone has been deceived due to the deadness.

Church, Jesus, Holy Spirit, rapture, Bride, etc. these words have all become swear words due to the cinfusion caused by the mega deceit, the false vine of Christianity, it poisoned the mind.

If you take a red rose and crush it badly your hands it will be ruined but you can still smell the fragrance, but if you have never seen a real rose before only the spoilt one, it will be difficult to imagine its original delicate and perfect splendour, you only know the spoilt one in your mind's eye and in our day we cannot even smell the fragrance anymore. Difficult to comprehend there was once no such thing as death.

 Quoting: Nobody... 967366

The average distance from the earth to the Moon is 238,900 miles. The Earth and Moon are supposedly 4.5 billion years old. The Moon is spiraling away from the earth at about 1.5" per year.

4.5 billion = 4,500,000,000
4,500,000,000 x 1.5" = 6,750,000,000"
6,750,000,000" / 12" = 562,500,000'
562,500,000' / 5280' = 106,534 miles

So that's roughly half the distance lost in 4.5 billion years.

238,900 - 106,534 = 132,366

That means when after the Earth was formed the moon was 132,366 miles from Earth. sounds plausible to me?

Religions were created before governments to keep us controlled and to suck off our energies. The Muslim, Christian, Jewish triangle of religions were created to keep the majority of the people in conflict and keep a few in control accumulating wealth and power.

Any belief system that sucks off your life's energy is false.

As for Jesus, Why can we not pinpoint the birthday much less the year when he was born, as he was allegedly the single most significant person born in world history.
We have a pretty good idea what Socrates and Plato looked like but no idea what Jesus looked like.

Why is the Trinity just a remake of older trinity god structures and the same pagan rituals used to worship all?
