The original texts were not written in English. It is hard for me to believe that during the long sequential process of translating the book from Hebrew to Latin and eventually to the current state of English, that there was no major errors.

The OT Hebrew was preserved among the Hebrews. The NT Greek was preserved among the Greek Orthodox until the Reformation 1517 translation to German & English.
