The only thing that fell in the Soviet Union in the late 80's was simply the outward appearance of a Communist tyrannical form of government. You don't have a country like Russia that has been entrenched in Stalinist beliefs for decades on end, that decides overnight to beat their nuclear warheads into plowshares just because one man believes in glasnost. The United States has been sending billions of dollars in aid to Russia for decades. I, for one refuse to believe that they are making vodka out of it. Sometimes you have to run, before you can walk. |
