And of course the meaning of "MARK" is etymologically preserved in several different places, even today...

we had the DEUTSCHE MARK, or the German money
and even the pervasive gambling casinos of today carry on the "MARK" tradition with the term
"MARKer"
Quoting: SE DenMARK, in old or middle English, means the borderland. Or, the border. So, the mark of the Beast might be a ~distinguishing characteristic.
"And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."
In other words, those with the distinguishing characteristic of the "Beast" (possessing the DNA of a subhuman beast, in other words), will be treated with favoritism economically, while those without it will be discriminated against and allowed to starve to death.
"Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six."
"Wisdom", this is a very important verse. The number of the BEAST is the number of a MAN... 666. How can the number of a man also be the number of a beast? Genesis clearly distinguishes men from beasts. So, it can only be a LIE. The Beast is PRETENDING to be Human. And we should all know by now, how much the Beast lies (if his lips are moving...).
