I bet it burns down like a roman candle before its finished. Quoting: Engineer H. We had a house down the street pre-built and shipped a couple of years ago. The owner said that it took them longer to prepare the foundation than it did to put the house up. |

And it is not just a building. It is what we can do. We are just showing to the rest of the world how bright we are. We have dams, bridges, buildings, we are in the space. Now is, EXACTLY, the time. |

They have the can-do spirit that the USA used to have back in the 1930's when the Empire State Bldg. was built. Back then, we had just learned how to build higher than 20 stories. Steel frame is absolutely necessary, stones or other methods can't go higher than about 20 stories. And so they turn around and use this new technology to build a 102 story building that was the world's tallest for about another 50 years after. One floor every 2 or 3 days, unbelievably fast. Stylish too, with the stainless steel exterior panels that still look new almost 80 years later. Now China is going to exploit another new technology that's just proving itself, modular construction of major structures. |

Someday soon you may have a major invention. We've had about a century of them. Now it's hard to separate because Chinese are contributing to creative work in US corporations and universities. Not jealous. You're at the beginning of the road, you've got talent and you might equal us in a century or so. Best of luck -- sincerely. |

Quoting: -GooGooFlexy- :deerpopcorn: Unlikely, the standard engineering principles of high-rise construction still apply, with predictable differences and modifications. It is a great achievement, but mainly just a workmanlike application of existing science and technology. Notice that these things are done by countries with great engineers. I believe both the super highrises in Kuala Lumpur and Dubai used US engineering firms. China's another place full of capable engineers -- but I would be surprised if no US people or companies are involved in the design. We've got the experience, it makes sense for them to use it. So something like this will never get built without competent leadership and oversight. At least not the way things go today. |

Probably the governor of the province who will also force the banks to lend on it too... One of the pictures has the building located in the middle of a large park or forest... That can't possibly be the location of the building... I'm in the camp that says its a huge fiasco... |
