Re: Pope denies second coming of Jesus in his weekly address
The 'Pope' is at it again!

So much blasphemy from the R.C. church only means one thing. The time is NEAR!

This is how the Pope explains two central Bible verses of the second coming of Jesus:

“Then the Son of Man will come upon the clouds in the sky with great power and glory” (13:26). The “Son of Man” is Jesus himself, who links the present with the future; the ancient words of the prophets have finally found a center in the person of the Messiah of Nazareth: he is the central event that, in the midst of the troubles of the world, remains the firm and stable point.

For this reason Jesus does not describe the end of the world and when he uses apocalyptic images he does not conduct himself like a “visionary.” On the contrary, he wants to take away the curiosity of his disciples in every age about dates and predictions and wishes instead to give them a key to a deep, essential reading, and above all to indicate the right path to take, today and tomorrow, to enter into eternal life. Everything passes – the Lord tells us – but God’s Word does not change, and before this Word each of us is responsible for his conduct. It is on this basis that we will be judged.

They are really throwing Satan a party at that church, aren't they?

Um...scratching

How do I do this without offending the sensibilities of "the herd?"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You ARE aware that ALL FORMS OF Protestantism is a "by-product" of the "Catholic Faith"...RIGHT? -It was a mere KING who changed the words of the bible because of a political fallout with the diocese. In other words, "the King James Bible" was literally revised by a filthy elitist. There were strict instructions to have never changed a single word. Not to mention the people who translated the bible from its original format...WHICH WAS IN CODE.

You ARE aware that the very bible that you read is a version, or a revised edition off of the "Roman Catholic Texts,"...RIGHT???

You ARE aware that it was Catholicism that set forth Jesus as "The Son Of God," and created the "trinity," in which ALL of you except the Jehovah's witnesses agree...RIGHT?

You ARE aware that "the passover," Easter, Christmas, etc...was all pushed into one religion by the Romans and coalesced into Christianity...RIGHT?

You must ALSO be aware that the act of "Communion," is primarily Roman Catholic, and reflects much of the former Roman pagan practice of "drinking blood." (i.e. Cannibalism, Vampirism) for the sake of "sacrifice" in exchange for power. --RIGHT???--
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Its funny to me, because...even Christians are separated and AT WAR with one another. Catholics think that the Lutherans will burn in hell. The Lutherans think that the Pentacostals will burn. The Pentacostals think that the Methodists will burn. The Methodists are sure that the Baptists will burn...and the Baptists just LAUGH their butts off at "The Mormons."

So...Your faith IN GENERAL is in FAR MORE TROUBLE THAN YOU COULD BE AWARE.

I suggest that you quit worshiping your messenger, and start FOLLOWING THE MESSAGE. Although, I realize that its far easier to do the former, than to recreate your lives and actually LIVE THE LATTER. -LOVE EVERYONE UNCONDITIONALLY- Don't TALK about it and point fingers at one another...DO IT.

WoW! This is all I can say,

Your gifted in your explanition, I've tried to say this but it keeps coming out wrong, I hope people will read this and do there own research,,,It's all there if you'll just lose the "program" and realize you have your own brain/mind..The Gift!

Dear sir, you are most surely blinded by your prejudice!

His holiness denied no such thing nor he implied anything of the sort!

He was just explaining the catholic doctrine in an splendid way, as always.

He has much intellectual baggage to do so, while you, my friend, are an ignoramus, as you demonstrates by your lack of discernment in you post.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28067471

I'm quite sure the pope is indeed an intellectual my friend.

I just question what side he and his sidekick 'General' Count Hans Kolvenbach actually play for.

Maybe you would like to discuss the Extreme Oath of the Jesuit? Would you like discuss their works? Or should I leave that for another thread? I think this is 'lite-weight' stuff compared to the knowledge I and others posses on the works of this organization.

I'm not here to Catholic bash. I'm hear to point out the truth direct from the horses mouth. Interpret of it what you will. Either people see her for what she is or they don't.

The lord set me free, friend. I'm one that got away. I suggest to you praying on it. Only God can give you the answers you seek.

Re: Pope denies second coming of Jesus in his weekly address
A group of bishops in the council at Carthage in 397 A.D assembled the Bible. The actual books and chapters are credited to various prophets, apostles and disciples. But, the book as a whole was created by an assembly. They wanted to collect the most important Christian writings and histories into a single book that would be enough for any person to have all that they needed to study and understand God's message. They put together the Bible. They did not write it but they made it. Like an editor putting together a book of short stories or essays. There is no one person that wrote the Bible. Although some people say God wrote it this is untrue. The Bible is supposed to contain God's message but most of it is in the words of the people who did the writing. If you accept the notion that Jesus was God in the flesh, then you could say that the words of Jesus were part of what God "wrote." The same would apply to the instances where someone heard the Lord speak to them.

The books of the Bible you read and invent truths from are writtings hundreds of years old, some thousands. They where written and rewritten. The Bible of the Catholic Church is wholely the one you hold in your hand.

Think about it.

He's right.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28131541

I agree, God’s word never changes but our good conduct cannot save us. Jesus alone saves. Only by relying on Jesus who was sinless and paid for our redemption on the cross can one be saved. That is why he came. He made a way for us at calvary and defeated death and hell when he rose from the grave. We must put our trust in him.

This is not the first time the pope has spoken in this way:

Nonbelievers Too Can Be Saved, Says Pope

[link to www.zenit.org]

Whoever seeks peace and the good of the community with a pure conscience, and keeps alive the desire for the transcendent, will be saved even if he lacks biblical faith, says Benedict XVI.

I'm not sure which date the OP is referring to, but since this rumor is spreading around the internet I googled it and most are referring to November 14th.

For anyone who is interested in what the Pope ACTUALLY said on November 14th here is the transcript word-for-word at the link above.

You can get the transcripts of everything he has ever said from ZENIT

"Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Last Wednesday we reflected on the desire for God that the human being carries within his very depths. Today I would like to continue and delve deeper into this aspect, meditating with you briefly about some ways to arrive at the knowledge of God.
I should mention, however, that God's initiative always precedes human action and, even on the path towards Him, it is He who enlightens us, guides us and leads us, always respecting our freedom. And it is He, too, that makes us enter into His intimacy, revealing and giving us the grace to be able to welcome this revelation in faith. Let us never forget the experience of St. Augustine: it is not we who possess the Truth after seeking it, rather it is Truth that seeks us out and possesses us.
However, there are pathways that can open the human heart to the knowledge of God, there are signs leading to God. Of course, we often risk being dazzled by the sparkle of worldliness, which makes us less capable of undertaking such paths or of reading those signs. However, God never tires of looking for us, He is faithful to man whom He created and redeemed, He remains close to our lives, because He loves us. This is a certainty that must accompany us every day, even if certain widespread mentalities make it more difficult for the Church and the Christian to communicate the joy of the Gospel to every creature and to lead all to an encounter with Jesus, the only Savior of the world. This, however, is our mission, it is the mission of the Church and every believer must live it joyfully, feeling it to be his own, through a life truly animated by faith, marked by charity, by service to God and to others, and capable of radiating hope. This mission shines especially in the holiness to which we are all called."

So, OP, are you going to explain your own interpretation of Mark 13 since you are rejecting that of the Pope?
 Quoting: Life and Love

The pope is nothing but a figure of the whole papal system which is the first beast of Revelation. this system is also the little horn power who has uprooted 3 other horns. The Visigoths, Heruli and Vandals. This system of worship designates Mary as the mother of all and without sin.. This harlot worships statues made of man, have asked for indulgences to get loved one's out of purgatory, murdered millions in the name of god and follow traditions not scripture. I would love to have a dialogue with you about the corrupt system called the catholic church!

Re: Pope denies second coming of Jesus in his weekly address
"This difficulty derives both from the content and the language: Jesus speaks of a future that is beyond our categories, and because of this Jesus uses images and words taken from the Old Testament, but, importantly, he inserts a new center, namely, himself, the mystery of his person and his death and resurrection. Today’s passage too opens with some cosmic images of an apocalyptic nature: “The sun will be darkened, the moon will no longer give its light, the stars will fall from the sky and the powers in the skies will be shaken” (Mark 13:24-25); but this element is relativized by what follows: “Then the Son of Man will come upon the clouds in the sky with great power and glory” (13:26). The “Son of Man” is Jesus himself, who links the present with the future; the ancient words of the prophets have finally found a center in the person of the Messiah of Nazareth: he is the central event that, in the midst of the troubles of the world, remains the firm and stable point."

Forgive him father for he knows not what he does. You clearly don't realize who you blaspheme. The Lord is very real, and as it is written every knee shall bow. Including you. Do you realize your pride and arrogance, is exactly the nature of Lucifer, the fallen angel, and was prophesied in the bible. Or that your 777 spiel relates directly to kabbalistic black magick satanic doctrine of allister crowley. Or that the illumnati, a group of elites consisting of masons and other secret societes that worship lucifer, pollute and control the world and push eugenics and a one world government which was prophesied in the bible . Evil is very real, in the form of satan, the advesary, and you are serving him whether you realize it or not. The bible has been accurate 100% of the time in all history and prophesy because it is the word of god. Take a look at what's going on in the middle east, it appears bible prophecy is unfolding in front of our very eyes. We can all sense we are in the end times. It's not because the mayan's, nor because ancient aliens (which are actually demons) its because because biblical prophecy/God's plan must be fulfilled. I am not condemning you. I love you no matter what, no matter who you are, or what you believe. If you wanna know how to be saved, Feel free to email me [email protected]. Peace be with you.

Thank you for this. I don't know why OP went off on a tangent... though it sort of proves Jesus' insight in Mark 13.

DID YOU CLICK THAT LINK?

WHAT I QUOTED IS IN THAT LINK!!!!

The denial of some people is amazing!

Re: Pope denies second coming of Jesus in his weekly address
“Then the Son of Man will come upon the clouds in the sky with great power and glory” (13:26). The “Son of Man” is Jesus himself, who links the present with the future; the ancient words of the prophets have finally found a center in the person of the Messiah of Nazareth: he is the central event that, in the midst of the troubles of the world, remains the firm and stable point."

He's not denying a "second coming", he's saying that we should focus our attention on

"and above all to indicate the right path to take, today and tomorrow, to enter into eternal life. Everything passes – the Lord tells us – but God’s Word does not change, and before this Word each of us is responsible for his conduct. It is on this basis that we will be judged.
Dear friends, even in our times there is no lack of natural calamities, nor, unfortunately, of war and violence. Today too we need a stable basis for our life and our hope, much more because of the relativism in which we are immersed."

He is saying that the reason for the message of Jesus is to take away the curiosity so that we focus on what is important, right conduct.

That is why Jesus says no one knows the day or the hour, only the Father

The Pope says Jesus is the "central event",

You are wrong Serenity. Just open a copy of the Geneva bible made at least 2 decades before the KJV and the texts are very much the same. You have no idea what your talking about in the least bit.

You haven't a clue how many people were burned at the stake by the Holy Roman Empire for translating and attempting to translate the Bible into English from Latin as well as the original Greek and Hebrew. You can continue to live in the little web of deceit and lies that has been spun for you or you can at least bother to get educated about the topic at hand.

This is well worth a watch if you actually would like to get informed on how the English translations of the Bible came to be and how many people were tortured and murdered for it by the Catholic Church.
