I remember when mount rupahu (spelling sorry) went in the 90's my grandparents lived in Palmerston North and it was coated in ash and smoke. Be safe kiwi's.

Just on one news.. there are still trampers in some of the huts on the tongariro crossing. Doc is saying they are in no danger cause they are 5km from the eruption... Bullshit. If the top totally decides to go they will also.
