Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14767373 yup. the school has no right taking kids to a church. they can show the movie to whoever wants to see it in the school auditorium. and you are right. christmas has nothing to do with being a christian. quite the opposite since its origins are pagan. christians should not be celebrating a pagan ritual. period. |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 22613968 11/21/2012 12:14 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It might have to do with going to the church, I'm sure some Christians wouldn't be happy if they took the kids to another religious location to show them something. I wonder how many Atheists actually have problems with the movie itself, I can't think its as many as the ones that argued against the field trip itself. I love the Charlie Brown episodes, make time to see them if I get the chance, and will be showing my kids them as well. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14767373 People celebrate Christmas as the Christ's Birthday, no he was not born on that day, yet millions of People have taken that Pagan Day and turned it into a *Blessing* by helping and feeding other's as Jesus would have them to do... Showing Christmas Cheer and Joy found in the Birth of the Savior.... If you asked Jesus what he wants then he would say ditch the pagan ritual. he would not want anything to do with it since it has to do with a demon god. heck, he didn't even celebrate his own birthday since the jews in his day did not follow the pagan custom of birthdays. his own father(Almighty God) had people put to death when they dedicated a golden calf to Him. they tried turning a pagan ritual into something for God and that was wrong and they paid dearly for it since they knew better. people today know better as well but don't care. people only care what they think and want. not what Jesus and God want. and they will pay dearly for that as well. wake up. |

(CBS Atlanta) — Charlie Brown has been caught in the crossfire of the “war on Christmas” mantra. Quoting: christian KARK-TV reports that some parents were upset that Terry Elementary School in Little Rock wanted to take children to go see a play of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” at a local church. “The parents that we know in this situation are reluctant to speak up because they are concerned about their kids being singled out and bullied,” Anne Orsi, a lawyer and member of the Arkansas Society of Free Thinkers, told KARK. The group is a volunteer organization of secular individuals whose goals are to “promote public acceptance of nonbelievers” and “defend science education and the separation of church and state.” Orsi said on the group’s Facebook page that the school is “sponsoring field trips to evangelical churches.” “While everyone loves Charlie Brown, the religious content of the program is a problem, as is the trip to a church to see it,” she said. Parents had mixed feelings about the controversy. Shamar Stokes told KARK that he has a problem with the religious aspect but, in the end, “wouldn’t have a problem with my child going to see Charlie Brown.” One unidentified parent did have a problem, though. “I think church and school should be kept completely separate at all times,” the parent told the station. “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” which was first released in 1965, is the story about Charlie Brown looking past the commercialism that surrounds Christmas and finds the true meaning of the day through his friend Linus. How do you think it feels to be the only kid on the block that doesn't celebrate Christmas. While all the other kids are sharing stories of family get togethers and telling of the presents they received, your kids are being left out and even called cheap for not getting anything. Your kids probably refer to you as cheap-ass motherfuckers, too. That's what I hate about liberals, they only care about themselves. They don't even care how their actions make their families feels. If any of you homosexual parents have kids, imagine how much those kids suffer knowing that they have two moms or two dads. Poor kids. Stop this insanity and think about others for a change. |
