We shall renounce the worship of idols. We shall no longer expose unwanted children. We shall no longer eat horsemeat. Anyone who does these things openly shall be punished with outlawry, but no punishment will follow if they are done in private."

Within a few years these heathen practices were prohibited in private as well as in public.

The heathens felt that Thorgeir, one of their own priests, had betrayed them, but they had pledged to follow his proclamation, and thus Christianity became the religion of all Iceland.

Seem to me that every event that involves someone not wanting their children to enter a church or to be involved with Christmas is an attack in Christianity. I would like to see your reactions if they decided to do an event like this in a muslim mosque or a Hindu temple. The shoe would deffently be on the other foot. To me it doesn't matter either way. I'm a Buddhist and am tolerant of all religions. I'm just tired of this "THEY ARE ALL OUT TO GET US!!!" Out of the Christian sect.

This is totally getting out of hand...objecting to the "religious" aspect of "A Charlie Brown Christmas"...did I read that right

If it's gotten to a part where the atheists are bullying anyone who believes in god, believes they have a soul, and want to celebrate a holiday which has existed for a few thousand years, I will stand with the christians vs the atheists

I have no objection to science, my mother was a chemist, I have many family members who are doctors and engineers, but none of them seem to object to celebrating holiday, or feel the need to squash other people's belief systems

I will proudly go out this year, as I always do, to sing Christmas Carols at nursing homes and veteran hospitals with a group of fellow musicians.

I've done this now for over 10 years and I haven't yet had anyone say GET OUT OF HERE I don't believe in God

Believe as you wish, pray if you want, worship whomever/whatever, but no one has the right to expect ANY religious references to be a part of school/government.

My dad was a practicing Buddhist...tantra to be specific, and I was raised to be tolerant of other people's religions

I do not have children, but personally I wouldn't see any problem if an event took place at a Hindu temple or a Muslim mosque...that would be educational

When I lived in Bali, I loved the regular celebrations of their own kinda odd version of Hinduism. I didn't feel offended as a non-Balinese. I loved it

However, when I drive through little New England towns I've known for 40 years, where there used to be happy decorations all over the lamp posts and buildings, many are now empty of everything but some colored lights and a bland "Seasons Greetings"...and I can't help but feel sad, sue me

It's not that they are attacking Christmas. It's Christ they are attacking. Dan Quale says that Jesus is under full attack. Jesus has been under full attack since blood dripped from his cross.
