Damn the camera just moved, but there's another one to the left , lower half. Most of the craters are empty, but those two have something in the center of them. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24642485 ![]() Found this to...explain it: Complex impact craters have a single or multiple peaks in the middle of the crater. These craters have diameters between about 12 and 110 miles (20 and 175 km), and the central uplift is usually one or a few peaks. Craters with a diameter over 110 miles (175 km) can have more complex, ring-shaped uplifts within the crater. Sounds a bit off to me but I know nothing except the moon is pretty. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24642485 ![]() Those are the craters' central peaks. Sufficiently large impacts will produce what we call "complex craters" while smaller impacts (such as the one that created Meteor Crater in arizona) create simple craters without central peaks. No, but here they are for you: Right now, a camcorder on standard camera tripod. In a second I'll show the view from an Orion ST-80 80mm achromat with mallincam. Then I'll switch it back to the main scope, which the ST-80 is attached to (riding piggyback), which is an 8" Meade LX200 Classic (pre-GPS), with a modified Samsung SDC-435 camera. ![]() |

The mallincam is a superior camera at deep space objects, but the SDC-435 seems to excel at bright solar system objects like the moon. ![]() |
