Very cool.
To your knowledge, has there ever been a recorded meteor impact on the moon?

Yes. Many, in fact. Watching lunar impacts is particularly popular during meteor showers.

That's fake. There are many real impacts that have been detected, but that's not the method and that's not what they look like at all.

You should record the moon during the Draconids... might get lucky.

I was going to do this on Saturday night, but the weather conspired against me. Here's the link to the stream, I'm just about to start broadcasting the moon. In the meantime you can see what the telescope and moon look like from a standard camcorder:

For the whole shebang, about 4000, maybe 5000. If you don't include high resolution astrophotography stuff that I also have (this is just low res video) then about a thousand less.

Titan is a moon of saturn. Europa is the moon close to Jupiter there on the left and Io is the one farther on the right.

Re: Come see live video of the moon! 11-20-12 *Thanks for coming!*
Totally there were domes all over the moon that then collapsed so hard they made dents. It was a huge city of domes and under the domes the minerals were mined. The domes were then collapsed to make it look like meteors hit. It was a genius plan, and it still works. We still think it was meteors. Long ago and far away it was actually called the domed planet.

Wow! This is cool!

Sure wish my kids were here tonight, my son would LOVE seeing this stuff. He's like me, always standing(or laying) out in the dark, staring at the stars.

Thank you so much and please continue to do this! And I'm glad you're back too!

Awesome view of Jupiter. I get good views with an 80mm Stellarvue Refractor. The wide field views of Orion Nebula and the Pleiades with a 2 inch eye piece are stunning.
