Yes. I celebrate halloween also - not because I feel evil spirits need chasing, but in observation of the tradition.

One need not believe in the basis of something to celebrate it.

I see what you did there.
And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it." Amen.

Well it does seem hypocritical...you proclaim your lack of belief in God, but celebrate a proclaimed religious holiday? Doesnt make sense, why celebrate it based on a Christian tradition you dont believe in?

if I believe in a higher being- essentially all of them but little of what the lower ignorant people call an interpretation of "them" - does that make me an agnostic? I don't like following what stupid people from hundreds of years ago have to say about those from above...I also hate the "new wave" fruitcakes

what do you say OP? am I an atheist? agnostic? Sumerian? Mayan?

dec 25 is not christs b-day according to the bible

he wasn't born in dec (in fact jesus is myth and wasn't even born)

Meh I enjoy some of the social aspects of Christmas. The family, food, friends and drinks is way better than happy birthday Jesus.

A holiday isn't necessarily religious. Like I celebrate Veterans Day but never served, or Memorial Day but haven't lost a family member. Breast cancer month but no breasts. you get the idea.

There is a form and function, and they need not interrelate.

I disagree. Christmas is a christian holiday. Veterans day is a day to honor veterans, a group we hold in a very high honor (or should anyway), ect. I think your comparison doesnt really hold well. Im not jewish, so i dont celebrate Hanukka.

Pagan eggs at Easter. (red ones, & we crash them to see who's toughest).

Solstice celebration.

Hanuka, passover, St. Patricks day (for Celtic Genocide), & of course Halloween.

you think christmas, Dec. 25, is really "the birth of Jesus" and not a lie to keep pagans from celebrating the winter solstice, like they had done for at least 1000 years before there were any christians?

and then I want to know what you think of easter.

totally serious question...

I wouldn't say I'm an atheist, but I don't have a religion so I can answer your question.

Yes! Christmas is a holiday for all in my opinion.
What has santa got to do with Jesus? What does the easter bunner have to do with Jesus dieing?

Christmas is my favourite time of year, I get to see my kids smile and laugh and give them cool toys. I get to chill out with my family and eat yummy food.

To me Christmas is about giving and enjoying your family, nothing else.
