Do you buy Christmas presents for your loved ones? Take off from work on Christian holidays? Totally serious question...
 Quoting: LoneSurviver

You call it Christmas... We call it "winter solstice."
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2506416

We call it "Family Day" and we dont do prezzies as such but I pay for my kids insurances.

This year for the first time in my life, I will be spending the day on my own and I am looking forward to it sooo much

LMAO Christmas is a made up holiday designed to put businesses in the red. You all eat it up out off fear of not proving you love your family while you dig a bigger financial ditch.

Here is some math on the bible!

"We must seriously consider the evidence, as eternity hangs in the balance. The Bible can be easily validated by any open mind that will honestly consider all the facts. Any skeptic will be hard pressed to deny the following pages in this publication. It is a choice to investigate this matter with an open mind and sincerity?"

*The number of words in the vocabulary will divide by the number seven.

*The number of words beginning with a vowel is divisible by seven.

*The number of words beginning with a consonant is divisible by seven.

*The number of letters in the vocabulary is divisible by seven.

*Of the vocabulary letters, those which are vowels and those which are consonants will both divide by seven.

*The number of words in the vocabulary occurring more than once is divisible by seven. Those occurring only once likewise divide by seven.

*The number of words occurring in more than one form is divisible by seven. The number occurring in only one form likewise divides by seven.

*The number of proper names divides by seven. The male names divide by seven. The female names divide by seven.

*The number of words beginning with each of the letters of the alphabet is divisible by seven.

*The numerical value of the vocabulary is divisible by seven.

*The numerical value of the various alphabetical groups of words is divisible by seven.

*The numerical value of the various forms in which the words occur produce the same phenomenon.

Much more on the math of the bible and how the actually odds of the numerical calculations are beyond human comprehension. Here is more on this!!

if I believe in a higher being- essentially all of them but little of what the lower ignorant people call an interpretation of "them" - does that make me an agnostic? I don't like following what stupid people from hundreds of years ago have to say about those from above...I also hate the "new wave" fruitcakes

what do you say OP? am I an atheist? agnostic? Sumerian? Mayan?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28099882

I'll jump in here.
There are only two kinds of people: the saved and the lost, at the point where they die. (So I guess I should say there are 3 kinds of people-- the saved, the lost and those who will get saved!
Jesus said that unless you believe that He is the Messiah, God, the Saviour, you will die in your sins. Saved, lost.
Path to heaven or to hell. Only two ways. Doesn't matter what else you call yourself. You either believe that Jesus is God and follow Him as your Savious, or you'll die in your sins.

UNless of course the truth has been twisted over the centuries, in which case the "believers" could well be behaving in a way that get's them the "lost" stamp too.

So, how can you be sure that the truth you hold, is the actual truth?

And don't say "the bible" since that's had WAY too many human hands meddling in it over the years.

If you were Christian, you'd not judge and egg on, those who have different view points.

I celebrated all the Japanese holidays when I was in Japan, even though I am not Japanese or a Buddhist or Shinto follower, Why? Because to do otherwise would have made me a rude, self righteous, arrogant and unwelcome TWIT to the other members of my family and friend who were celebrating! And that is exactly the same reason I participate in activities here in America, because even though I am non-religious the people around me are not and I am simply not the "OF MYSELF" to lay that kind if trip on them. I also enjoy seeing then very much.

Christmas is not the birthday of Jesus. he was born 6 months after his cousin john the baptist. Hisbirthday should be in aug. or sept. i believe. dec 21 is a pagan holiday. they just changed the dates to keep everybody calm and more manageable. besides its just a commercialized way for people to celebrate giving and going broke again. another way to keep the money in the pockets of the rich. although i enjoy christmas, it is not jesus b.d.
this place is my home, my mind still runs free, the DR's prescription, less for you and more for me.

Yup! It's all about Santa Claus and Easter bunny. You ask this question to blame us. Were not the ones that associated Santa on Christ's birthday nor a rabbit with the resurrection. Ask yourself this! Why would they make up shit like Santa and Easter bunny on days your suppose to be Worshiping Christ?

Maybe cause it doesn't matter? It's all lies....

Yes. I celebrate halloween also - not because I feel evil spirits need chasing, but in observation of the tradition.

One need not believe in the basis of something to celebrate it.

Hipocracy isn't a problem unless you want to stand on a soapbox.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25994549

Well it does seem hypocritical...you proclaim your lack of belief in God, but celebrate a proclaimed religious holiday? Doesnt make sense, why celebrate it based on a Christian tradition you dont believe in?
 Quoting: LoneSurviver

I think your calling of hypocrisy is simply wrong!

Your ignorance on the history of December 25 is lamentable OP.

You celebrate Christmas as the birth time of Jesus when we all know that is wrong. Jesus wasn't born on December 25!

Why do you celebrate a falsehood and call it Christian? Why do you teach this falsehood as fact to children?

When Jesus said Luke 6:41 And why behold you the speck that is in your brother's eye, but perceive not the beam that is in your own eye? isn't this the exact thing he was talking about?

Why do you call others hypocrites when you are celebrating a falsehood?

Is Christianity a religion of honesty? By celebrating Jesus' birthday on Dec 25 it would appear not! It is a false teaching that lies to children, isn't it?

I wouldn't throw the hypocrisy word around without looking at your beliefs first!

Something to think about.

A holiday isn't necessarily religious. Like I celebrate Veterans Day but never served, or Memorial Day but haven't lost a family member. Breast cancer month but no breasts. you get the idea.

There is a form and function, and they need not interrelate.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25994549

I disagree. Christmas is a christian holiday. Veterans day is a day to honor veterans, a group we hold in a very high honor (or should anyway), ect. I think your comparison doesnt really hold well. Im not jewish, so i dont celebrate Hanukka.
 Quoting: LoneSurviver

that's fine. Most religious people don't listen to logic. If they did they'd be agnostic or atheist,

The great thing about being an atheist is that you can always take a leave from work and say: hey, it's Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Festivus (or whatever) and I'm off to celebrate it! Unlike Christians, I can pick and choose. You don't need to believe in it to celebrate it. It's not hypocritical. It's common sense. Why should I be missing on the free time? If you get to go on a leave for simply having a ridiculous irrational belief system, I should get to go too.

Even better, you don't have to be serious about celebrating it. You can just go home and slack off whereas everybody else is close to a nervous breakdown when they're preparing for the event.

Firstly, you're an idiot. Secondly, Christmas has never been the birthday of Jesus., it is also not the birthday of Horus, or Mithra, or any of the other countless people that the Jesus story was STOLEN FROM TO BEGIN WITH! YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT RELIGION BEFORE THE LATEST IN A SERIES OF BORROWED IDEAS AND POINTLESS TRADITIONS. we atheists celebrate a day to give gifts fo our loves ones, not because it is a Christian holiday, becayss if you knew anything about anything you would know that your stupid Jesus was a. Not real, and two wasn't even born on the 25th as the stupid story goes. Give it up, don't try to insult our intelligence because you have this idea that your religion, which is the newest in a series of older even crazier religions is somehow the right one. You know nothing about nothing, and if you want a history lesson on your religion let me know. Soon the entire world will be atheist and we won't have to have this boring conversation with people who know nothing about this thing they need to defend so badly. You people truly make me want to vomit. Ps. NASA just found life on Mars, so start rejection your retarded stolen religious ideals pronto. Fucking morons.
