One of my old country uncles calls them "Hootybeggars" :) I add smoked neckbones to the water I'm boiling them in for seasoning and let them cook down for a while before I add the rutabagas. Gotta slice them real thin so they cook quick, or they get that strong, cabbagey aftertaste to them that makes a lot of people dislike them. Cooked properly, they're way better than mashed potatoes. |
