Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | FLINDERS University researchers today launched world-first glasses that reset your body clock - and could end insomnia and beat jet lag Sleep researcher Professor Leon Lack said the glasses would emit a green light to readjust the body's internal clock. He said the device, known as Re-Timer, could help regular high-flyers beat jet lag, keep shift workers more alert and get teenagers out of bed in the morning by re-timing the body's internal clock. "The light from Re-Timer stimulates the part of the brain responsible for regulating the 24-hour body clock," Prof Lack said. "Body clocks or circadian rhythms influence the timing of all our sleeping and waking patterns, alertness, performance levels and metabolism." Those who wanted to sleep and wake up earlier should wear the device for 50 minutes in the morning, while those who want to sleep and wake later should wear them for 50 minutes before bed to delay the body clock. It can be worn while completing normal daily tasks such as working on the computer or reading. [ link to www.adelaidenow.com.au] |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28148768 Yes, hopefully. The insomnia market is worth US$5 billion and 94% of all long haul air travelers suffer from Jet Lag. Seasonal depression effects 35 million US citizens and 10 per cent of Northern Europe while in Australia 2 million people suffer from various forms of insomnia. |
