Re: Why the Moon is moving away from Earth?
Plus, is it still a theory or not?

'Many physicists considered the effects of tides on the Earth-Moon system. However, George Howard Darwin (Charles Darwin's son) was the first person to work out, in a mathematical way, how the Moon's orbit would evolve due to tidal friction, in the late 19th century. He is usually credited with the invention of the modern theory of tidal evolution.'
 Quoting: DUCM900

Theories in science mean something different than the way we use theory in everyday speech. A scientific theory means it's backed up by large amounts of data which all make accurate predictions.

For instance, gravity is "just" a theory. No one in their right mind would doubt it because that's what a scientific theory is.

the·o·ry
noun, plural the·o·ries.
1. a coherent group of tested general propositions, commonly regarded as correct, that can be used as principles of explanation and prediction for a class of phenomena: Einstein's theory of relativity. Synonyms: principle, law, doctrine.

2.
a proposed explanation whose status is still conjectural and subject to experimentation, in contrast to well-established propositions that are regarded as reporting matters of actual fact. Synonyms: idea, notion hypothesis, postulate. Antonyms: practice, verification, corroboration, substantiation.
 Quoting: AllGunsBlazing

Theory is not a prove of a scientific fact, that's the main thread Q. Do you get it?

Anyway, you are still shilling so much here with useless stupid cut & paste things.

No, you just can't read.

theory definition

A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena. Most theories that are accepted by scientists have been repeatedly tested by experiments and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena. In science, an explanation or model that covers a substantial group of occurrences in nature and has been confirmed by a substantial number of experiments and observations. A theory is more general and better verified than a hypothesis. ( See Big Bang theory, evolution, and relativity.)

Brainless fucktard.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 192998

I guess you are the brainless man, not me at all.

I ask for an official scientific explanation of that phenomena. Did you ever read that on books? (not)

For example, do you find some explanation here below?

Mainstream here:

Why the Moon is getting further away from Earth

source: [link to www.bbc.co.uk]

 Quoting: DUCM900

--------------------
While 3.78cm /y may not seem like much, this small difference over a long enough period of time could affect life on Earth, making the planet slow down.
--------------------

And at the end, they NOT explain why it should happens.

whatever
 Quoting: DUCM900

So you didn't read it then. It says in the article YOU posted.

The migration of the Moon away from the Earth is mainly due to the action of the Earth's tides.

The Moon is kept in orbit by the gravitational force that the Earth exerts on it, but the Moon also exerts a gravitational force on our planet and this causes the movement of the Earth's oceans to form a tidal bulge.

Due to the rotation of the Earth, this tidal bulge actually sits slightly ahead of the Moon. Some of the energy of the spinning Earth gets transferred to the tidal bulge via friction.

This drives the bulge forward, keeping it ahead of the Moon. The tidal bulge feeds a small amount of energy into the Moon, pushing it into a higher orbit like the faster, outside lanes of a test track.

This phenomenon is similar to the experience one feels on a children's roundabout. The faster the roundabout spins the stronger the feeling of being slung outwards.

But the energy gained as the Moon is pushed higher is balanced by a reduction in the energy of its motion - so an acceleration provided by the Earth's tides is actually slowing the Moon down.

Re: Why the Moon is moving away from Earth?
I am not sure of the reason, but it is a great evidence that the Earth cannot be more than around 6,000 years old. Think about it logically, if you go back in time it gets closer and closer. Going back only a few million years puts it practically touching the surface of the earth. What would that do to gravity, the tides, etc. That is one of hundreds, if not thousands of scientifically empirical evidences for a young earth. 5a

True that you must assume it is constant. The same assumptions C-14 dating methods (and ALL other radiometric dating methods) use, yet old-earthers will still use this as evidence to support their claim.

This is all BS

expecially the final part, the assumption:

--------
This drives the bulge forward, keeping it ahead of the Moon. The tidal bulge feeds a small amount of energy into the Moon, pushing it into a higher orbit like the faster, outside lanes of a test track.
--------

Infact you cant find that ****** in the books, thats simple a fact..

And even they did NOT specify that it is just a theory or ...something else.

Any scientific explanation about that? I still have not find anything...
 Quoting: DUCM900

Dude, firstly the moon in gaining energy from tides, an orbit further away from the center takes more energy not less. The fact you got this wrong means that your understanding of orbital mechanics and physics in general is sub undergraduate (I do not mean to offend you with the statement it is not meant to offend or upset)

Overall the effect is that the earth looses rotational energy and the moons orbit gains energy. If the moon where slowed down by the action of tides then it would move towards the planet as the centrifugal (centripetal for the engineers) would decrease and the moon would gradually spiral down.

Hope this helps XX

Re: Why the Moon is moving away from Earth?
The key is that the Earth rotates faster than the moon orbits, the tidal bulge acts as a brake and slows the earths rotation. Since the total angular momentum has to remain constant over time the Moons orbit is accelerated and moves away from the Earth.

I think it's because the moon orbits the earth in an elliptical, just like the Earth orbits the Sun in an elliptical. The distance is always in flux.
