Adversity is inevitable, misery is optional.

Do or do not. There is no try.

Depending on my mood, either Pink Floyd's DSOTM or Radiohead's OK Computer.

I don't listen to very much these days... but when I do it's usually this (start to finish). It should have been adapted into a feature length motion picture, in which case Chris DeGarmo and Geoff Tate would have won Oscars for best original screenplay.... DeGarmo for providing the story and Tate for giving it a voice.

It's perfect in it's brutal honesty... it works and flows on so many levels just as well as the day it was recorded! It's a rock narrative/commentary that works just fine for me. Sadly though in many cases it WAS the story of my life and the lives of so many of my close friends. I guess that makes it even more poignant for me and an old girlfriend who fit the "Suite Sister Mary" role nearly perfectly.

Excerpt from "Eyes of a Stranger"

"Is this all that's left of my life before me
Straight Jacket memories... [sedative highs]
No happy ending like they've always promised
There's got to be something left for me
And I raise my head and stare into the eyes of a stranger
I've always known that the mirror never lies
People always turn away from the eyes of a stranger
Afraid to know what lies behind the stare"
[Lies behind my stare]

Spreading the Disease

She always brings me what I need
Without I beg and sweat and bleed
When were alone at night
Waiting for the call
She feeds my skin :)

Sixteen and on the run from home
Found a job in times square
Working live s&m shows
Twenty-five bucks a fuck
And Johns a happy man
She wipes the filth away
And it's back on the streets again

Spreading the disease
Everybody needs
But no one wants to see

Father William saved her from the streets
She drank the lifeblood from the saviours feet
Shes sister Mary now, eyes as cold as ice
He takes her once a week
On the alter like a sacrifice

Spreading the disease
Everybody needs
But no one wants to see

Religion and sex are powerplays
Manipulate the people for the money they pay
Selling skin, selling god
The numbers look the same on their credit cards
Politicians say no to drugs
While we pay for wars in south america

[saudi arabia, on tour]

Fighting fire with empty words
While the banks get fat
And the poor stay poor
And the rich get rich
And the cops get paid
To look away
As the one percent rules america

Spreading the disease
Everybody needs
But no one wants to see
The way society
Keeps spreading the disease

Re: Best rock concept album?
Dark Side of the Moon, for sure. No question about it.
But, one of my all time favorites should get a mention, John Barleycorn Must Die by Traffic.
Also the first, and maybe only, country concept album should also be mentioned, Redheaded Stranger by Willie.

Play the song to the video (play around and synch them just right at the beginning...then let it play)

Then ask yourself..."Is anyone going to show up...or NOBODY"
