Best rock concept album?

the quadro tour comes thru my town friday. working on some nice floor seats right now!

I know I will catch hell and be hated for this... but I don't really consider Pink Floyd rock, just my opinion.

And by a concept album I would think the whole album with all the song's together tell's a story.

the concept album is not a dead concept

if you can find anything better released in the last 15 years, i'd love to hear it.

I quickly breezed over the first page and theres many great albums listed. I believe that there cannot simply be one best album for there are so many bands the have been blessed by all that is good to shed light on all that has been covered by darkness. I have always listened to what some consider the best rock. But guess what? All music has been touched by the divine. Please Please Please have the decency to listen to any artist i list for i have listened to so so many rock music.

The Tubes "Completion Backwards Principle" is the absolute shit, amazing album by one of the coolest, most innovative rock bands ever...The Tubes, these guys can give Rush a run for their money, amazing musicians, plus the best frontman ever, Fee Waybill on vocals!

Are people really stupid? About 75% of the albums listed so far are NOT concept albums. I don't think people know what a concept album is to tell you the truth. I'm embarrassed. Yes' Close to the Edge is NOT a concept album.

When the Beatles had given up touring, Lennon said that they could "send out four waxworks ... and that would satisfy the crowds",[7] and McCartney later explained, "We were fed up with being the Beatles. We really hated that fucking four little mop-top approach. We were not boys, we were men ... and [we] thought of ourselves as artists rather than just performers."[8] In early February McCartney had the idea of recording an album that would represent a performance by a fictitious band.[9] This alter-ego group would give the band the freedom to experiment musically. McCartney explained: "I thought, let's not be ourselves. The album starts with the title song, which introduces Sgt. Pepper's band itself; this song segues into a sung introduction for bandleader "Billy Shears" (Starr), who performs "With a Little Help from My Friends". A reprise version of the title song appears on side two of the album just prior to the climactic "A Day in the Life", creating a bookend effect. However, the band effectively abandoned the concept other than the first two songs and the reprise. Lennon was unequivocal in stating that the songs he wrote for the album had nothing to do with the Sgt. Pepper concept, and further noted that none of the other songs did either, saying "Every other song could have been on any other album".[12] In spite of Lennon's statements to the contrary, the album has been widely heralded as an early and ground-breaking example of the concept album.[13]

So, again, music and concept are individual. I see this album as a concept album. All the songs have a theme intertwined. Then again, YES music can not be be understood by all. "Soon, oh soon, the Light"

I consider Pink Floyd to be rock ... but what is debatable is, is Pink Floyd prog?

Sergeant Pepper was presented as a concept album, Lennon said: we told people there was a concept, when there wasn't actually, but maybe the concept was the concept of "concept album" people were asked to receive the album as a whole instead of a collection of tunes.

They kind of invented the concept of concept album while they didn't do it ...

but the White Album certainly isn't a concept album ...
