Quoting: LunaticFringe The re-election of BO kinda solidified it for me. Just look at the fucks on this thread that will do anything to try to convince us that it's not wrong.... I don't give a shit what you say... if your mom saw you doing it she'd slap you. If she didn't, I would. I was thinking the same. This is the new generation. God help us... Unfortunately if you read a lot of posts on this site it will just reinforce how far down the slope our society has slid. Freedom of speech is indeed one of the founding principals but, there is a difference between exercising your right to freedom of speech and being rude and disrespectful. .................. and that is the line that is routinely crossed these days because people see that there generally are NO consequences for this behaviour. The problem has been magnified in the last decade or so by social media and everyone hiding behind computer monitors. You can see how poorly young people communicate in public, in face to face situations. There is also the tendency in social media for many to instantly go on the attack because it is fast and easy and................... unless you really go overboard, there are no consequences. Sad times and in the long run it will have very negative side affects. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21926154 Actually. Yeah. Yeah it does. The government is literally obligated by law to DEFEND us from any person trying to impose a 'consequence' on us for expressing our views or opinions. Only if her 'speech' financially or physically hurt someone, was false, or was performed on private property where it was not allowed, could she be penalized in any way by anyone. As far as I understand how the law is supposed to work. Your understanding of the law is wrong. The First Amendment "prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances." Freedom of Speech in the U.S., as per the First Amendment, only applies to protection from the government. It does NOT apply to persons or organizations. So, a company (or person) can attempt to restrict your speech and may (and can) do so without any true penalties. |

I'm also from a generation which still knows what respect means. My mother taught me that, my grandfather teached me history since I was 6. The values in the new generation are GONE. I don't know why. Maybe their parents don't care?! Not only in America. In Europe is almost the same but in America is really, really bad... |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 5913880 United States 11/21/2012 11:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just curious. Why should I respect someone for killing others JUST BECAUSE SHE/HE WAS TOLD TO DO SO? Why should I respect anyone who gets paid to kill someone else? And please don't give me any of that crap about "fighting for our/my freedom." If that were true then please explain why I am a slave more than ever????!!! Quoting: beebee Sorry, but I will not respect anyone who does not have enough intelligence to realize all these fuckin wars are all about MONEY. I have the deepest respect for those who dare stand up to TPTB and refuse to kill for hire - conscientious objectors/humanitarians. While others were wearing the poppy on their label in honor of "kill for hire", I wore my PEACE symbol on my lapel. Tear up your US passport. Give up your US citizenship. Move to Iran or Cuba. You piece of shit!! No one should get paid to kill another just because the bankers want to get rich. Give me the name of just one Iranian that has done YOU wrong - name just one Cuban that has done YOU wrong. Do your damn homework before you puke out your disgusting patriotism. "The WORLD is my home and to do good is my religion." Sir Thomas Paine ask the iranians in L.A. or the cubans in MIami what they think about your silly interpretation....fool |

War racket statistics are nothing compared to this. Im not going to disagree with you here. I think if you drink, and you drive, and you kill somebody.. you spend the rest of your life in prison. And yes, I hold EVERYONE to the same accountability. A good friend of mine in HS was drunk and she drove, and killed a little girl in her front yard, in front of her father. She was released from prison and tried to add me on facebook. uh, NO. |
