Unfortunately if you read a lot of posts on this site it will just reinforce how far down the slope our society has slid. Freedom of speech is indeed one of the founding principals but, there is a difference between exercising your right to freedom of speech and being rude and disrespectful. .................. and that is the line that is routinely crossed these days because people see that there generally are NO consequences for this behaviour.

The problem has been magnified in the last decade or so by social media and everyone hiding behind computer monitors. You can see how poorly young people communicate in public, in face to face situations. There is also the tendency in social media for many to instantly go on the attack because it is fast and easy and................... unless you really go overboard, there are no consequences.

Sad times and in the long run it will have very negative side affects.

The First Amendment "prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances."

Freedom of Speech in the U.S., as per the First Amendment, only applies to protection from the government. It does NOT apply to persons or organizations. So, a company (or person) can attempt to restrict your speech and may (and can) do so without any true penalties.

I've been here long enough to know what you are talking about... I'm also from a generation which still knows what respect means. My mother taught me that, my grandfather teached me history since I was 6.

The values in the new generation are GONE. I don't know why. Maybe their parents don't care?! Not only in America. In Europe is almost the same but in America is really, really bad...

What a stupid thing to do. She is scum. She should be shamed publically and shunned by every person in her community. I'm sure vets in her town will not be quiet or kind about this.

I think what this girl did was extremely disrespectful and ignorant but if she feels horrible about what she did and has apologized for offending whoever it is that she offended then people need to move on

saying that though....the place where she works has a right to let this girl go IF........if employing this girl is going to make people not want to do business there....it's not fair to the company that they should struggle financially because of the girls stupid actions

A good friend of mine in HS was drunk and she drove, and killed a little girl in her front yard, in front of her father.

Sure you are free to say whatever you want, but there are consequences to your actions...if you came up to me and said "hey your daughter is hot - I'd really like to fuck her" prepare to make an appointment with your oral surgeon because your front teeth will be quickly down your throat. credibility loss
loss of friends
despised by people she meets.
