A big new sunspot (AR1618) has emerged
Space Weather News for Nov. 21, 2012
[link to spaceweather.com]

SOLAR ACTIVITY: A big new sunspot (AR1618) has emerged near the center of the solar disk, and it is crackling with strong M-class solar flares. NOAA forecasters estimate a 70% chance of more M-flares today, and a 15% chance of powerful X-flares. If the rapid growth of AR1618 continues apace, the Thanksgiving holiday (USA) could be filled with stormy space weather. Check [link to spaceweather.com] for updates.

OK. some of you who are knowledgeable in this please advise. Should we bring in the tomato plants or what?
One of the most important aspects of conspiracy theories is being able to discern when there isn't one.

Oh yeah, like you'd understand anyway.

Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?. . .J. Handy

Wait until it pops off a few x class flares. The event in 1859 (I believe thats right) was caused by 2 massive flares that hurled enormous cmes at us. The 2 combined impacts caused that havoc. It's all good for now. Thank s for the heads up. I haven't looked into solar activity for a few weeks

Re: A big new sunspot (AR1618) has emerged
The X-Class danger is what scares me, I'm almost certain M-Classes won't do much other than auroras and mild geomagnetic storming unless there is an abundance at once. I actually just started renting out a derelict air force base recently w/ 4 stories of underground server rooms and just two nuclear proofed windows on the whole thing, 10 minutes from my house a week or so ago after the HUGE solar prominence happened on the 16th...

The heats picking up fellas, it's been nice riding on the third rock from the sun with everyone.
