Israelis have signed this cease fire for some strategic purpose, maybe to get the Hamas leadership to come out of their holes, or perhaps to lull the Pali's into a false sense of security.

I was part of amphibious assault group (USS GUADALCANAL LPH-7) and we evacuated US citizens out of Lebanon in '76-77. The LPH helo carriers are indeed used for evacs (as well as "storming the beach"). Don't know in what capacity they'll be used here, but just want to say they can be used for a myriad of purposes and that is the mission of "gator" amphib group.

I believe part of the ceasefire agreement was to lift the blockade on Gaza's port.
