Okay, so my buddy at work comes in today and says a turkey tried to mug him today. This is Michigan. Wildly aggressive turkey on the attack. I laughed my ass off, but now I am kind of weirded out by the number of states mentioning crazy turkey attacks.

Brookline is a mostly upper income town that's almost completely surrounded by the City of Boston. This is occurring in a nice neighborhood very close to narrow strip of parkland in Boston called the Muddy River. It also goes by Fenway park, in fact Fenway Park is only a few miles from the turkey location. This is not a suburban area but heavily urbanized, many big universities and hospitals nearby.

I'm very familiar with the area and in fact geese, ducks and turkeys are common. You see them crossing major streets all the time. And of course they're very aggressive. But anybody living in the area knows perfectly well where the birds are coming from and there's not much to be done about it. This is a case of some yuppies whining and it makes it to the news because of Thanksgiving and it's a cute story.

Bears, coyote and deer are also common in Brookline and Boston. I was driving to work early AM a few weeks ago and almost crashed into a deer that ran in front of my car, it ran into a cemetery. And this isn't a suburban neighborhood, it's urban.

Does that mean that there was a big comet headed our way?
