With 30+ years of LEO experience and 15+ years of testing and research to back up these RECOMMENDATIONS (and they are recommendations as I know everyone thinks they know what is best but some of us older folks have already made the mistakes the rest of you have yet to make)

Well you just lost your ass then kid, i live in AZ and the stand your ground law does not make you immune from prosecution for murder for using exotic ammo just like i said earlier. An overzealous D.A. will make the case that your actions were pre-meditated by the fact you used exotic ammo "meant to kill" the intruder rather than "meant to stop" the intruder. Just because you can read and understand one simple law doesnt mean your a goddamn expert on legal procedure and how what you use can be turned against you even in a justified shoot. So where's my money biotch?

Buckshot even with body armor will break ribs up close, the best part is if you go "crazy" with firing it wont go through walls and kill someone next to you. Even the cheaper "clay shot" will cause havoc on anyone.

I will stand by my original post in the hopes that no one here will read and believe your legal interpretation.

Simply because you are in the right, stand your ground state or not, does NOT mean that you are immune from prosecution!

Assuming the situation was legal, there is nothing stopping a prosecutor from dragging you through the system for years. They have done it for much smaller offenses... you are talking about giving them a fresh corpse.

The incident in Florida is a perfect example, and that was a straight shooting.

Imagine if it was the exact same incident except the weapon. Lets say: an AR-15 pistol, a 100 round drum magazine, green tipped armor piercing 5.56, a "zombie" holosight, and a skull/crossbones on either side of the magwell.

DO NOT MAKE THE PROSECUTORS JOB ANY EASIER.

Sometimes, in the legal system, if you are right... you can be proven wrong.

In the end, I would put this out there:

Find out the exact make/model of shotgun and rounds the police are using (or pistol). Get that exact same setup for home defense.

The difference when the officer gets on the stand from "oh, that is exactly what we have in the squad cars" to "armor piercing 5.56?! That goes right through our SWAT team's body armor!!" is night and day.

I have been behind bars and have lived in serious gangland L.A. and can tell you all this, if this oncoming social collapse happens, it is not going to be the John Wayne, Remember the Alamo shooting match that you envision.
Most threats will come out of large city's and they will be hungry,tired and out of their depth in a scenario that involves a family defending itself.
If they hear a fire cracker go off in self defense, they will look for a softer target,period.
Your average BAD ASS is a Darwinian basket case and they will be the very first to be eliminated.
My wife is not much more than 5 feet tall but if some punk gave her a hard time, anywhere,anytime, I'm fairly confident that she would rip it's windpipe out, that is a nice thing to know, she can handle herself! she is in fact quite scary!
Do not under estimate the capabilities of women.
We have gun's and a tasty selection of ammo but if the SHTF then it is not going to be about guns and ammo, it will be about, Can you eliminate an aggressor with a flower pot or a truck or a tea spoon, your families survival will be more dependent on your gardening skills, in most cases.
But as the question is what it is , I would say,00 Buckshot.
