Blago(Blagojevich) has been saying this all along, and that's why he is being put behind bars. He is the good guy, they are trying to shut him up. Exactly what he said has come true. [link to www.examiner.com] Gov. Rod Blagojevich has been in the news for some time now. I believe that Blagojevich is innocent. By the way, don't forget Rod Blagojevich accomplished many things while he was Governor of Illinois. The top ten list of why Blago is innocent (and then Blago’s list of just 25 of his major accomplishments while in office) 1.) In regards to “the deal”, There were no bags of cash. Nobody got shoved up against a wall and had his pockets turned out. The government caught the Blago's talking deals on the phone, but in politics, that's what you do. This happens in any business, that's what you do. And the prosecution has failed to show that the Blagojevich’s did anything more than shoot the breeze. 2.) Blagojevich was picked up by the feds because he dared to threaten Bank of America a few days earlier with the loss of all state business… 3.) The media has only tried to bad name his credibility, poke fun at his hair, call him names, or criticize his personal life. We Are Change, with the intention to provide the American people with the TRUTH, talked to Governor Blagojevich about his resistance to big banks, which is what really led to his arrest. And here’s the video mentioned in that e-mail. Blagojevich does utter some expletives (no surprise there), so be careful if you’re on a work computer… 4.) Like Obama, Blago is innocent because he said so. Many forget that after all, this whole debacle comes from the Senate seat that our President once held. Why hold a former Senator to a higher standard than a former Governor? etc/read on |

I say they go for it as Quinn supports obamacare and taking away pensions. |

It's one reason why the middle class is going down the crapper. Why should the majority pay higher taxes so the tiny minority of union workers get better benefits than the ones paying for it? Maybe that thinking is truly why the middle class is going down the crapper. Oh, and go fuck yourself. The middle class these days has a whole lot of public employees. Or goverment contract workers . The days of a GED and pushing a button at the factory for 750 a week with benefits to start are long gone. |

They unionize and coerce the government to give in to their demands, against which the taxpayers HAVE NO SAY AT ALL. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24760791 They are negotiating with NOBODY. They are thieves and robbers. And the job of elected officials should be to get the functions of the state done at the least possible expense to the taxpayer. Instead, they vote high wages and salaries and retirements for themselves and the unionized state workers, and become rich in a few years from under the table kick-backs from the union leaders and other racketeers. But look for this Governor to be in danger of a serious "accident." Some people don't take NO for an answer In his book, "Between Two Ages," Brzezinski wrote: "The technetronic era involves the gradual appearance of a more controlled society. Such a society would be dominated by an elite, unrestrained by traditional values." MuzzleBreak |

The very nature and purposes of Government make it impossible for administrative officials to represent fully or to bind the employer in mutual discussions with Government employee organizations.... Particularly, I want to emphasize my conviction that militant tactics have no place in the functions of any organization of Government employees. Upon employees in the Federal service rests the obligation to serve the whole people, whose interests and welfare require orderliness and continuity in the conduct of Government activities. This obligation is paramount. Since their own services have to do with the functioning of the Government, a strike of public employees manifests nothing less than an intent on their part to prevent or obstruct the operations of Government until their demands are satisfied. Such action, looking toward the paralysis of Government by those who have sworn to support it, is unthinkable and intolerable." - Franklin D. Roosevelt IMO, if people must have unions, no union should be bigger than one shop. Let only the people who work for an employer bargain with that employer. The first antitrust laws pertained to unions as well as companies. That is what we should return to, as a first step anyway. |

A private union makes a private deal between itself and a business owner. In some states, things go a bit far and the owner is unable to prevent formation of a union, but generally (right to work states) it's a reasonable compromise. Once the owner accepts the union he should bargain fairly with them. But as a taxpayer I don't remember ever approving a deal to have my "public servants" unionize. And I never even have the choice to stop paying taxes, other than moving out of a state or out of the country. This is a great move by Gov. Quinn, let's hope he follows through. Illinois is in deep shit, and the union situation needs to be corrected. There are plenty of unemployed people who are educated and experienced and could do those jobs for the government, give them a shot. |

Where's the external productivity that produces the money to pay them? You could support a small group of middle class govt workers if there's a much larger middle class of private employees and entrepreneurs. But when the engine driving it, the private economy, is dying, the government just becomes a noose around its neck with its demands for support. |

The gov't is WE THE PEOPLE. A public union negotiates against its own citizenry! Not to mention this, but the current politician is a TEMPORARY representative of WE THE PEOPLE. Yet they still want, want want. But you will not see any quit for a non-government job. It is too the point that raising taxes do very little, except to hire more government workers. Every level of government can cut 10% across the board and no services would change, except for those employees working at a slower pace. How many times have you seen some form of local government offer early retirement, this to cut the budget, yet two years later more employees are now working for the same government. It is really sad when the largest employer in the state. is the state. |
