Jesus was born years earlier than thought, claims Pope

What is striking about it is that it took till 2012 to correct the falsehood that has been taught as fact in churches for nearly 2000 years.

This actually begs the question.

If that is wrong then what other things have been lied about?

I'll tell you one.

The use of the word Apocalypse by most Christians.

Apocalypse doesn't mean end times and yet most Christians believe it is because their unknowing preachers wrongly think it does.

Just to save time here is the truth about the word Apocalypse.

Apocalypse comes from the Greek apokálypsis which means "lifting the veil" OR Revelation.

About 400 or so years back people studied apokálypsis eschaton. Eschaton means "End of an era, a time, a period etc.

So through bad teaching and poor understanding the word eschaton was dropped and suddenly we were left with Apocalypse wrongly defined as "The End Times"

If preachers get such an important word as Apocalypse wrong, what else are they getting wrong.

Which Popes were infallible, the Pope now or the Popes that agreed with the later birth date? :-)

No Popes were or are infallible - they are only men and they get lots of things wrong.

5 BC******** Herod sends wisemen to search out where Jesus will be born. Wise men meet Joseph and Mary and give them gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Wise men return to their own countries without briefing Herod.
5 BC******* Angel of the Lord tells Joseph to take Mary and go to Egypt. Herod kills 2 year and under children.
4 BC******* Herod dies. Herod Archelaus takes over. Angel of the Lord tells Joseph to take Mary and go into land of Israel. Joseph goes to Nazareth, Galilee

God loved Jacob but hated Esau, so God renamed Jacob 'Israel'. This was 2000 years before the birth of Christ in the Hebrew year 1106 or 7 BC . That's definitely something worth checking out.

that the turning point is the year 2000 so If Christ was born before this could be the year 2000 though I suspect the Pope is saying it so as to let know that this isnt really the year 2012

The dating of the birth of Christ all depends on the death of Herod the Great, Herod's death happened shortly after a lunar eclipse.

The problem is, which Lunar eclipse? There were 2 lunar eclipses around the beginning of the 1st century AD. Deconstructionists favor the eclipse in 4BC, a lunar eclipse barely able to be seen form Jerusalem, however the Lunar eclipse of 1BC was easily seen in Jerusalem

Not sure why this is considered 'breaking news' or new stuff...historically and as far as archaeologists are concerned, including myself, we have always been aware that the figure knows as JC was born circa 7 BC... when Herod issued that edict, written in history, JC was an infant and the family fled to Egypt for a few years - The flight of the Holy Family' as it was called, and the people of Egypt - the 'cwpts' or today the Coptic Christians, follow that story as the basis of their faith

Just as an addition; the real people of Egypt, right up to 7th century were known as 'Copts' (from the greek and later when the Arabs came and conquered Egypt in AD641 called them 'cwpts') later to show the difference between Islam and Christianity, the term 'Copt' became synonymous with Christian - hence the expression today

Basically the Muslim Arabs did not arrive in Egypt until after AD 641

He was 115 when he died. He survived the crucifixion and when on to India.

No it will not work for him. He lives in a parallel universe where the calendar is different. He is not using the popish calendar, so his opinion is irrelevent in this matter. Instead of being able to communicate about the popish calendar, his only contribution would be demands that we adopt his calendar and see the issue through his eyes. That does nothing to further the popish case, being as it is a complete rejection of their basic argument.
