Quoting: AWFEKKIT Really? It's not children who are picky. It's parents being pushovers and shoving their bad eating habits off onto their kids. I can see the next generation of Americans unable to eat chicken unless it's slathered with Ranch dressing. No, children aren't "picky". Every single day I see a child munching on a piece of dusty, dry bread because it's FOOD. Nothing "picky" about that. Yes! Children are very, very rarely "picky" when it comes to food. They will express their "wants" (sometimes quite loudly & with copious tears) for certain foods. As parents, we are responsible for saying "NO, eat what is put in front of you or eat nothing." I was fond of saying "This is not a restaurant." A few times of going without a meal cured any "pickiness" in my babies real quick like ;-) And Affect, my heart goes out to little ones anywhere who have to live in such abject misery of an empty tummy. Am I the only one who told their kids to either eat it or wear it, their choice? LoL, in my defense they were big strapping boys. One of the most important aspects of conspiracy theories is being able to discern when there isn't one. Oh yeah, like you'd understand anyway. Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?. . .J. Handy |

Hint I can get 10 sets of clothes including shoes for around 50 bucks per person. Socks and underwears from big lots adds another 20 bucks. recent great score was 50 pairs of gloves for 12 dollars , those should last for about 5 years before I gotta think about getting more. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 957572 My kids wore name brand clothing to school when they were in school and I was a single working mom so they qualified for free lunches.Never once did I buy at full cost.I carefully watched the yard sales listed in the paper and would go to the higher class neighborhoods to get clothing.Wealthy people get rid of clothing and it still looks new.I would buy, wash well, and the kids never knew the clothing came from a yard sale.Jeans would be as low as $1 and look new.So just because kids dress well certainly doesnt mean they are paying full price for them. There was also a local consignment store near and I would take clothes they out grew and sell them there so it actually cost me very little for my children to dress very well. |

Seriously, you are talking about getting clothes from garage sales and eating cheapest food out there! I don't think that here up north things are much different from economical standpoint, but here I am, a student on entry position in a company, making 40 grands a year, which is not a lot but enough for one person living in a big city. I buy every apple gadget out there, go to restaurants, bars, mountain skiing during the winter, and still manage to save money to pay for my education. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18850150 Ofttimes people are poor because of bad life choices. I wonder how many of these poor people spend a lot of money each month on cell phones, cable TV, etc. I [a single mom] was ready to give money to another single mom who was struggling with two children... until I noticed she chain-smoked cigarettes. One of my [single mom] co-workers would complain about not having money to pay bills... and I felt sorry for her until the day after payday, when she came to work with professionally done hair and nails [ie, her money had gone to the beauty parlor.] . Here is a healthy delicious and very cheap recipe that can cost you less than 3 dollars but will serve at least 2 people well. Fava Beans (aka Broad beans): Ingredients: 300 gram of broad beans in water(195 gm drained) 1 table spoon oil (any vegetable oil works) Half an Onion, chopped and diced One Tomato, chopped and diced Two table spoons water 3 tables spoons of tomato paste 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil (optional, more if you like) Parsley (Optional, as much as you'd like, served as a garnish) Spices: half table spoon of cumin, teaspoon of all spice, salt and pepper to taste, a pinch of red pepper (or more if you like it spicy). Heat the 1 table spoon of vegetable oil in a pan, then add the onion and stirfry for a few minutes with salt. Then add the tomato and the tomato paste along with the broad beans. Let the broad beans be heated for a few minutes in the pan, then take it out of the fire and mash it with a masher (you could use a spoon too). Add the spices and the water and mix, heat for a minute or two. Then serve with olive oil and parsley on top. |
