Guilt as a 'Catholic'/'Christian'
Anyone else dislike the extreme feelings of guilt brought on by the religion you were born in? Week after week of being told what a sinner I am in church has made me feel like an asshole for doing just about anything that isn't charitable, breaking my leg for someone, or putting my own agenda at risk.

It's literally difficult to live for myself due to these encrypted ideas.

I personally wonder if God wanted to be a psychological hindrance that pains us with guilt, or if he'd prefer we live, learn, and keep growing. The whole religion thing is just too much. Not the responsibility aspect, but all of the dam rules and then the EXTREME attitude of other religious folks and church goers.

It's just too much for me. I don't want to reject God but this whole thing sorta sucks. I hope he won't hate me for saying it.

Coming from a 'confirmed Catholic'.

God bless.

When a person turns their life over to Christ (He is alive)........they are immediately declared "Not Guilty" by God.

They are clothed in the righteousness of Christ......and appear as white to the Father.

And so while we stumble all the time (the flesh is weak)......we are viewed as white by the Father. Christ has already taken your punishment upon Himself.

Western religion makes you feel guilty for existing.

I really hope that's true. Phrases and sayings like that make me feel better/a little more hopeful.

It's hard to turn yourself over to Christ so early in your life. How or why would you do it? I have yet to ask God for help or say I'm sorry(except for confession as a kid). Someday I will when I absolutely need and actually deserve it. For now, it's like, I'd prefer Christ were more a light at the end of the tunnel instead of a daily "HE'S DYING FOR YOU. DON'T FUCK UP."

Hopefully at the end of the journey my merit won't go unnoticed, although I'm not expecting any high praise, either.

I was not even seeking God.....but as it turns out.....He was seeking me.

Christ is the Seeker.....and alive.

He showed up at my home one day.......and I turned my life over to Him. That was back in 1988.

Ask God sincerely to show you the truth.

And while I am a wretched sinner.....with millions of sins......I am seen as white by the Father.

If you have a red blotch of ink on a piece of paper......and you view that blotch thru a red filter.....it appears as white.

And so.....the Father viewing you......thru the shed blood of His Son......are seen as white.

Re: Guilt as a 'Catholic'/'Christian'
Your problem is not only that you are a confirmed catholic, but that you are also stiff-necked in your carnal heart....

What the rcc won't dare tell its parishoners, much less preach to the world, is that Christ Gave HIS Life To Enable those who The Father Called to Abide In & With HIM in Everlasting Relationship.

Until you seek The Father and make your surrender of self Unto HIM you will remain a stony-hearted creature of wretchedness, descended of Adam who chose self-will over Relationship With God. Don't matter how "wonderful" you are are doing "good works" and trying to be selfless and pleasing to God. that rcc saint, mother Theresa, is also a wretch as is/are all whoever lived after Christ without giving their lives Unto God The Father.

If you Love Christ and Know HIM To Be God The Son, then The Father Has Called your heart. catholicism, which I was born-into and educated through university, is in strong denial of The Gospel and Father's Plan for man.

Without Acknowledging Christ Jesus and Trusting The Father Fully with every aspect of your life, you will not Know The Life you were called to live With HIM and The Father....
