I have ONE listed food allergy - guess what they just served me for breakfast..

So from day one, that little notation has been on every menu, every tray of food they've given me. In big black letters, all caps - ALLERGY: ALL HONYDEW, BANANANA

I'm allergic to honeydew. Supposedly it extends to bananas and other melons as well, but honeydew melon is the one that makes my throat swell, etc. It's not a 'sensitivity' or 'dislike', it's an allergy.

So they bring in a bowl of canned tropical fruit for breakfast. I've had it before, it's never had anything unususual in it. Usuually just pineapple and grapes.

But today, there were 2 big chunks of honeydew melon at the bottom, one of which I bit into - that's how I knew what it was. Meaning too, the other fruit in the bowl had touched the honeydew, so that's contaminated too.

So I took the menu out to the nurse and told her, she acted like she didn't really understand what a food allergy is and told me it's okay to take one of my own Benadryl. Haven't heard a word from anyone since.

I took the Benadryl, which is contraindicated due to the heart medication I'm taking. My face feels cold, I'm a little dizzy, my tongue is tingly and I'm getting a headache. My arms feel kind of numb.

I saved 2 pieces of the honeydew in one of their plastic pill cups, just in case... I don't know, just in case.

If the damn melon doesn't kill me, can I sue these idiots?

When damage control arrives, what should I say?
