Well in NEPA, I have seen an unbelievable increase of the revenue generation activity going on here. Never seen so many cars, and it seems every one has a customer pulled over. I just got $400 worth of tickets in the past week, and none before that for years. Looks like the police are doing a fundraising drive and the people are fucking sick of it.

Really man, do we need all the light bars on cars around town... It's like a hundred flies buzzing around your food. Discusting

Earlier, Norwich police told WCAX News they found evidence of an accelerant, indicating the fire was intentionally set.

But Vt. State Police fire investigators now say the fire was not suspicious. However, the cause of the fire was undetermined.

The cruisers were valued at about $100,000.

No one was injured in the fire

you will ALWAYS find evidence of an accelerant in a "complete destruction" vehicle fire. the fuel the vehicle runs on is an accelerant.

This is an expected response from the police, in fear of copycats, this is a. Very easy way for people to retaliate...could be the start of a trend

I lived in Norwich VT

It's right across the Connecticut River from Dartmouth College and Hanover NH

Used to be one of the quietest little towns out there. The most exciting thing in Norwich was a general store called Dan & Whits

That part of the upper CT river in general was known for very low crime, especially in the cold part of the year

Back when when my sister was in Hanover, someone stole the tires off her bf's car, while it was parked for months ignored down by the river parking lot. That made front page headlines for weeks, lol

Setting police cars on fire is a big fucking deal, esp for a place like that

I have to agree...I lived in Norwich and worked in Hanover for 6 years. Not only is Norwich a "quiet" town, but one of Vt's richest. And I HIGHLY doubt anyone there was so sick of getting tickets that they'd risk their high social status to torch some police cars. Something's definitely out of the norm about this.

Just order some new cars and bill it to the taxpayer. LOSE

This is not the sort of story that should come out of a place like Vermont or New Hampshire or Montana. Weird.

I live in Vermont and it has really gone down hill the last several decades. It is not the pristine little place the post cards or ski ads make out it to be.

Vermont has a high rate of suicides and breast cancer.

It is not that unusual to see a man urinating in public, especially shopping center parking lots. So many people here have no pride, they spit everywhere, cuss , they don't care who has to hear them.
A few weeks ago I witnessed store a young man with a perfume bottle nozzle up his nose while shopping in a store.

Actually, Vermont is disgusting most of the time.

You must live in Burlington. I live in the islands and it is just like a post card picture here. Most of Vermont is. I hate working in Burlington, it really is a mess.

It is true about suicides in Vermont, so sad, no help for folks here .

I know people that hate Grand Island and the isolation, I guess that drinking would be a problem, like most of northern Vt.

The big deal in the tiny but rich and uber contentious town hall meetings village of Snorwich is Cell Towers... they are unhappy with the size of the kickbacks and looking to juice the contract. Plus they are always trying to out Hanover Hanover (little Zurich on the Connecticut and home of Dartmouth) right across the river in American Switzerland (NH).

Digression re: out Hanover-ing Hanover - it's like a competition to be the biggest pretentious asshole - sort like two rich families who absolutely hate each other but live right across the street - both come from old money but only one of the comes from titled nobility and this that endlessly agonizes the other!

So now the cell tower consortium can add a minimum of 3 brand spanking new urban assault vehicles to their contract... I mean come on it's been described as a sleepy village but it has plenty of shekels (even though they hate Jews here in WASP land) and their ENTIRE fleet of recent model police vehicles was completely unsecured and unwatched even by cc cams? Come on you are kidding me right?

ADDENDUM: One local wag on the listserv wrote that if this was really directed at the POLICE and NOT an inside job the whoever did it would have taken out the nearby HARTFORD VT PD!

Yes that was a sad day for sure.
