Several, car accidents, a trucker killed by a load of molten lead, etc. The worst was the Cline Avenue Bridge Disaster. Google it. It was horrible.

Re: Anyone ever found or seen a dead body?
Yes in my line of work, no longer in that job. Had to check on several deaths and make reports. The worse was when someone had shot a rodeo horse and killed him for fun while his owner was out of town. Shot him across the road in his pasture. They finally got a confession from the jerks that did it when they committed another crime in a state up north about a year later - I was so happy they would do time. It was a beautiful show horse. Stunk worse than any dead person I had been around before, dead three days. Laying on his side in a field of green grass, all the love just shot out of him in an instant

I still think about his owner, an old black man, still showing his horse at rodeos, that gave more than he ever got out of life.

And here too. My mom and I were in the room when he passed away after a long fight with cancer. We knew the end was close as he had the "death rattle" for almost 12 hrs before he passed. We were both asleep in the room with him and at about 5am the sound suddenly stopped. We both jumped up and I listened for his heartbeat and we called the nurse. Slowly his heart slowed and stopped beating. The strange thing is that the moment after his heart stopped, he didn't look like my dad anymore, he looked different. Like a stranger. He wasn't there in spirit anymore but it somehow changed what his physical face looked like.

He was so peaceful and I'm thankful for that.

The "death rattle" is the air leaving their lungs after they die, it's almost a snoring sound, hence rattle!

Re: Anyone ever found or seen a dead body?
I saw a motorcycle accident happen maybe 8 feet directly ahead of me while I was in my car. An older lady was driving behind the bike and claimed she couldn't see the bike so she just plowed right through it. I can see it in slow motion as if it were yesterday (been about 10 years now).

On first impact the female riding on the back of the bike had her leg severed in 2, the shin and shoe just flopped onto the ground while the bloody stump flew up into the air with the lady's body I would say a good 10-15+ feet! It just shows you the amount of force of the collision. While up in the air the lady's helmet came off possibly because it was too loose or improperly connected. when she came down on the pavement head first, it looked like a water mellon that someone dropped off a 3rd story balcony. Splat. Skull bits and brains everywhere, she was totally unrecognizable.

The heart jerker of the whole thing was the guy driving, her husband or boyfriend. He came out ok from the huge wreck, the only thing I noticed he couldn't get up or walk due to his ankle clearly being broken as his foot was facing completely backwards and limp. After they hit the ground he crawled over to his woman and just lost it...I couldn't imagine seeing my loved one splattered all over the road like that...He was crying, screaming.. it was terrible.

I was maybe 20 years old and I had a car packed with over 2 lbs of pot in a non pot friendly state that I was about to deliver right up the road to my buddy at the coffee shop (I used to make runs back when I was young for the money, being a poor kid driving a 1970's Chevy)

Shook me up good, and then when the cops arrived I had to talk with one for a good bit as I was only one of 3 people who had seen the entire incident. Luckily he didn't harass me about if my car had pot inside, I hadn't been smoking in the car (Common sense while transporting), and I hadn't been high that day yet I was waiting until I made it to the coffee shop to catch one with my buddy who worked there. I was nervous though, that was for sure. Cop was really nice with me because he could tell that I had been thru a whole lot seeing what I just saw and I was able to leave.

Re: Anyone ever found or seen a dead body?
Second time seeing a dead body wasn't as eventful, it was a family member who was generally unliked even by her husband because of her drug use and stealing. I was visiting the good side of family at that house this day and she suddenly disappeared from our gathering, I had a REALLY stupid question pop into my head that I wanted answered from her so I began asking everyone where she went and eventually her daughter said she was out in the van getting high.

I go out there and open the door and she was blue. Dead blue with a needle sitting between her feet as she was slouched forward. I told her daughter to call 911 immediately because I didn't know what to do. 911 operator told me to remove her from the vehicle and place her on the ground.

As I picked her up, I got a whiff of death (devoid bowels and all) plus some shit on my hand because she was wearing short shorts. I panicked, freaked the fuck out because I was holding a dead bitch and she just shit on me. I pretty much picked her up out of the van and dropped her head first onto the driveway on accident. Wish I could've been more gentle but things happen when your freaked the fuck out like that..

Ambulance comes and they were able to revive her eventually. They don't know if it was the lack of oxygen to her brain or head trauma(falling out of the van) that caused it but now she's kinda retarded. Her husband still blames me to this very day for saving her, he would rather she was dead with her addictions and overall craziness plus he had a super fat life insurance policy on her at the time. Couple years later she goes back to the needle, things get crazy and husband told her its the methadone clinic or back down to Virginia to Daddy's house. She's in the clinic using xanax to get tore up now.

Trying to save my neighbour, who was already blue in the face with a mouthful of lobster. Older man, a lot of health issues. Not going into specifics because it saddens me that I was not able to revive him... But I tell you this. From that day I can't stand the smell of lobster and at it does not appeal to me any more. I have a hard time even watching my husband chow down on it.

I found one partially buried in a riverbed in Riverside California. Tried to dig it up, but smelled so bad, I left it there. Might still be there but that was 24 years ago.

Re: Anyone ever found or seen a dead body?
I witnessed a murder just after it happened. A man had shot another man point blank with a shotgun and simply walked away like it was nothing. The police found him just walking down the street.

The man that was shot was on the ground and I remember being facinated with the fact that blood could pump so high off the body of the dying man. Being just a child, the blood seemed to pump out of his neck like it was a hose and traveled at least two feet into the air. A woman ran out of the hair salon across the street and tried vainly to stop the bleeding. I was curiously detached during the whole thing--almost like it was just a movie. I knew it wasn't, of course, but it didn't look like anything I had ever seen in a movie (in the 1950's). Surprisingly, I was never really affected by it. Violence was pretty much a part of life back in those days.
The TRUTH is stranger than FICTION.

Ok, wrong description. It was that sound once they are in a coma and their lungs fill up with fluid until they can no longer breathe. The gurgling sounded like a percolating coffee pot. I'll never forget it, it was painful to listen to for 12 hours.

Re: Anyone ever found or seen a dead body?
I use to work for an assistant living and come across many elderly who died. Lots of them with no family to care for them. Sad!

Though I do have to say, I saved a little neighbor girl. She was about 16mths old and swallowed a penny on the floor while her mom and I was talking. Her mom was getting me coffee and I noticed it was quiet and saw the little girl chocking. I performed the heimlich manuever and the penny hit the ground. She started screaming. I was freaked because I thought her Mom was going to get mad at me. She had heard the penny hit the ground and me put the girl down. She looked at me and said "You know what you just did?" I said "Yes, but don't say anything. I got to go now" I went back home, looked at my youngest which was the same age, walked to my husband and cried.

Relatives of "terminally"-ill patients would have to be consulted before a decision to withdraw food or water is taken, under new government proposals.

"terminally" has been redefined as old, unproductive, economically unviable, burdensome, carbon producers...
