Will cost a fortune to live in New Zealand. I wouldn't bother living here, it's like jumping from the pan into the fire. As the poster above says we have a fucked up Goverment which is true. Most kiwi's are living in Australia or moving there.

Remember you don't have to pay the government 5 million dollars, you just have to "invest" it in Australia. Who knows what invest means, it could be anything.

I think it would be more complicated than that, as there are plenty of people with that sort of cash tied up in AUD or Aussie equities, and if that was the only requisite, they could divest it elsewhere or overseas after a few years upon confirmation of their visa.

This is absolutely terrible - one of the other posters is correct if a national sell their citizenship then that should be allowed, however no government should be allowed to offer finacial incentive citizenship to democratic capitalist countries without the majority saying yes.

You see dont see the power of democracy and dont implement it - they think democracy is about laissez faire and apathy.

There is no way a government should be able to do this without the majority backing.

Basically people have to stop the governments by impeachment wehere necessary. That money will not be going to the tax payer.
