I have been feeling the urge to help others because so many don't do squat and it saddens my heart. I brought this up last weekend while inebriated with my father in law. The song came on if I could have a beer with Jesus and I said what have any of us done to make a difference in SOMEONE ELSES life? I do little things but not enough and they looked at me like a deer in headlights. Sad sad state of affairs we live in but there are some great people out there with nothing but they are happy! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28049035 Sounds like my family...lol What I did was google " homeless shelter" followed by my zip code. I called and the first one said they had enough volunteers. The second said they could use all the hands possible. So I said , you can count on me. It was the best day I've had in years. |

Once one's eyes are opened to the fact that one person CAN help one's attitude is changed forever. One nice thing to do is every time you do volunteer take the time to talk with ONE person at length. Often those who come to those places really don't have anyone to talk to and they appreciate someone showing an interest in them. They appreciate it and you will learn a LOT. Best wishes OP |
