Back in the day, Ultras used to do pyrotechnic shows. Now, the lasers are a portable symbol, sort of like, hey, we're here.

They're an interesting group; definitely anti-regime and pro-Egypt.

So, back in the day ( a few months ago) the Ultras were anti-Mubarak?

Sure. Mubarak's regime harassed them, locked them up, and generally persecuted them.

Why hassle a group of soccer loving men? Because they were a group and, to the regime, any group was a threat.

This is Egypt, where everyone's identity is their religion so it's not about religion.

If I had to pick a broad category, I would say they are pro-freedom.

On a side note, after the soccer game massacre in Port Said, there was no more soccer games for popular attendance. Any games, up until the past few weeks, were either held in remote locations or there was no audience allowed into the stadium. There really isn't much that's fun or entertaining to do in Egypt (really, there's not), and the one thing they enjoyed was taken away from them. Not only that, the judiciary that the president's decree took so much power away from have either put off making decisions prosecuting the massacre or there have been no guilty verdicts. I'm sure there's a bit of a beef with the judges going on here, so in that sense there's maybe a bit of pro-Morsi going on, if for no other reason.
