All modern forms of agriculture are dependent on oil, not just for the gasoline but the fertilizers, pesticides and fungicides. Most of the top soil is dead, lifeless. If you start reading now then when you buy your property you'll know what to do immediately so you have a chance. The soil doesn't come back to life quickly.
