Re: Officials: Israel's Gaza Offensive Was Training For A Possible Fight With Iran
Is Israel's Gaza Campaign Laying the Groundwork for an Attack on Iran?

A close observation of the recent developments in Gaza might reveal broader implications for the region: Israel's operation Amud Anan ("Pillar of Cloud") in Gaza could be preparation for an Israeli strike on Iran.

The story begins late October when a mysterious blast destroyed the Sudanese military base Yarmouk on the outskirts of the capital, Khartoum. The Yarmouk was a base camp to receive arms shipments from Iran and stolen weapons from Libya that were smuggled continentally to Hamas and the Iranian terror proxy in Gaza, Islamic Jihad. The Sudanese authorities hurried to accuse Israel, which remained silent. Satellite images of the site indicate that the bombing of Yarmouk was executed from the air. As The Atlantic reported at the time, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) is the only one in the region with the capabilities to execute such a strike.

Re: Officials: Israel's Gaza Offensive Was Training For A Possible Fight With Iran
yes, shahab missles are more or less like fajr.....are they retarded?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25473374

Please stop pretending you know ANYTHING.

Shahab's are actually pretty inaccurate ballistic missiles.

Why do you think America parked Aegis Destroyers both in Persian Gulf and the Med.? The SM-3 missile will kick Shahab's ass all day long.

Secondly, many/most of Iran's Shahabs were destroyed in that "mysterious" blast a year ago that als killed Iran's missile expert. Oops.

If that's not enough, Israel has Arrow-2 system to deal with the rest.

And actually you make fun of Fajr-5 rocketslike they are nothing but little fire-works.... but if one Fajr-5 ever hit your family's house, they'd have you re-assemble your putrid brood molecule by molecule. And Israel's 5th Iron Dome, even though it was unproven & rushed through development by 3 months for the conflict, showed excellent ability to intercept Fajr-5 -- even though ID was only designed to deal with smaller modifed Chinese Grads.

So should tell you how advanced the Arrow 2, as well as Patriot-Advanced-Capability and in about a year Magic Wand & Arrow 3 SAM systems... really are.

But of course, if a Shahab or 2 does leak through and cause civlian deaths, then Israel will EMP the fuck out of Iran with Dolphin-fired Popeye-Turbo cruise-missiles, and if need be Jericho-II and Jericho-III MIRV.

Of course by the time Super-Stuxnet has done its job in case of an all-out way with Iran.... IRGC and Ayatollahs will not know their ass from their mouth from the hole in their bunker's wall.

Seeing that a war with Iran would also start a war with Hamas. My guess is they used this time to take care of Hamas to avoid a two front war. Now that most of their weapons and rockets have been used, it's all clear.

Then reality sets in and this is all bull shit and Hamas started the war with Israel, and Israel isn't going to do anything about Iran because they have no US backing, so yeah, nothing will happen.

OP. i realise you are just reporting but there are many so called officials who make biased claims in order to try and save face for Israel.

Perhaps there is another angle to this whole event.Did you know that next thursday (29th) there will be a vote in UN regarding recognition of palestine?
If they win as they are expected to then it would signal the end of Israel as we know it. The rithless regime that rund Israel is well aware of this and they know that no longer can they enjoy the backing of their servants in USA and UK since they too are losing ground fast.
This 8 day war with Gaza was a tester to see how far they can destroy after the motion is passed in UN next week.
Fortunately for Gaza, The regime in Israel realised that they no longer have the powers they once had. If you read the right and true reports, you would know that less than 40% of rockets were intercepted by Israel. And to think that Hamaz had not even used their main missiles they have.

After UN vote, Israel has two options
1/ To raise hell in the region which will turn the whole world against it and bring about a fast end to their regime as a result of 100,000+ dead in the region.
2/ Cry like a baby, threaten and throw tantrum, and then the rats leaving ships in all direction in USA, Israel, UK, Canada etc etc

THe marker point is this:
When you see the UN motion passed in favour of Palestine then end of the regime in Israel (not Israel itself) will be within 5 years.

Re: Officials: Israel's Gaza Offensive Was Training For A Possible Fight With Iran
History lesson.

The great country of Iran fought the much smaller country of Iraq to a complete standstill.

Neither side could do anything.

Mass idiots against mass idiots.

Let's see.

The Iraqi military fought Iran to a complete standstill.

Britain and the US with smaller numbers went through those same Iraqi forces, like crap through a goose.

And somehow, Israel is to fear these guys?

No one questions Iranian courage. They lined up and got slaughtered like the idiots they were. That takes courage.

Maximum stupidity, but courage.

Not exactly the type of folks who do well against Israel.

The Israeli kill ratio is unbelievable.

So the more numerous Iranians mean nothing.

Just more for the slaughter. If Iran can even pull it off, which I doubt.

Israel may destroy their nuclear facilities, but that's about all that will happen.

Darius I, determined to make the piddly Western nation of Greece a part of the vast Persian Empire. He lost 300 ships and 20,000 men at Capt Athos his first time out.

At Marathon, the mighty Persians arrayed 44,000 to 60,000 soldiers and cavalry against 16,000 Greeks on the Plain of Marathon. The Persians lost 6,400 men to 192 Greeks. To celebrate, the Greeks built the Parthenon, and engraved the names of the 192 inside.

Previously, Persian successes were against other Easterners. Not Westerners. Darius was killed putting down rebellions that started because the great Persian army was defeated by the piddly Greeks, which caused others to think they could do no worse.

Xerxes, decided to do what his father couldn't, and invade and conquer this dirt-poor, small group of Western Greeks.

He gathered an estimated 250,000+ of the cream of the cream of the Persian Empire, and was surprised to see 7,000 Greeks at the Hot Gates, led by Spartan King Leonidas, who had brought 300 Spartan Peers.

After giving them a few days to evaporate, Xerxes sent his elite Medes to bring them to him. Didn't work out. For two days, these 7,000 held the 250,000, before all but 700 Thespians and 300 Spartans were left.

They were killed, 1,000 Greeks, but over 25,000 Persians were killed. That's a 25:1 kill ratio.

In offshore naval action at Artesium, and due to storms, the Persians also lost 200 ships and another 40,000 men.

At Salamis, Xerxes saw a small fleet of Greek volunteer free men sink 200 Persian ships and 40,000 of his sailors drown. Scholars agree that this was a slaughter, say, a 40:1 kill ratio.

The following Spring, Mardonius led 300,000 Persians against 60,000 Greeks at Plataea, where they killed all but 43,000 Persians with 1,360 Greek losses. The surviving 43,000 Persians were killed at the Strymon river estuary by Alexander. That's a 220:1 kill ratio of Persians killed to Greeks killed.

Next action was Granicus. The Greeks enjoyed a 26:1 kill ratio.

Issus. 4:1 kill ratio, but since the battle took place near sunset, the Persians ran in the dark faster than the Greeks could pursue.

Guagemela. Outnumbered 250,000 to 47,000, the Macedonians, outnumbered five to one, slaughtered the Persians had 50,000 slain to the 500 Macedonians, or a kill ratio for the Macedonians of 100:1.

It doesn't get much better over time.

Persians fighting other Eastern tribes won. Persians meeting the West haven't won yet.

Israel is a nation founded by Western immigrants. Trained, supported, and co-oped by Western nations. Israel with
Western values, freedom of the press, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and hold the concept of private party.

Iran should shut up, and back off. Or it's most likely to be another repeat of Persia against the West.

Even so, Iran will be using Western weapons. Otherwise, they'd still be using composite bows and wicker shields.

Western technologies. Western military capabilities. Western war-making history. Nothing like it in the world.

And nothing has changed.

Nothing.

You have you teeth into it but not quite there. You are still playing into their agenda. You have to realise that neither you nor I set the date for this UN meeting recognising Palestinian as a state and for events to play out the way you mentioned it could. Do you think the timing of this meeting and the bombing we witnessed is just one big act of coincidence?

Israel is playing out an agenda and since none of us materialised into something nor choose which part of the world we would be born into that now identifies us as a friend or foe to either party, I would suggest we don't buy into the agenda Israel is currently pushing.

2/ to try and force palesting to back down from the motion in UN which did not work.

In the near future the conditions will be as such
The regime that is ruling Israel will be vanished from the pages of history (remember this quote?)
Israel will indeed remain without any harm coming to it, yet by popular vote will change its name and will no longer be called Israel.

This is not a prediction of prophecy. It is simple observation

The eight-day Gaza offensive was a practice run for any future armed confrontation with Iran, U.S. and Israeli officials told The New York Times.
“In Operation Pillar of Defense, Israel was not confronting Gaza, but Iran,” Michael B. Oren, the Israeli ambassador to the United States and a military historian, told the Times.

Iran did not have to do jack shiz, but watch how israel reacted over the 8 days, strengths and weakness. An other advantage is the battle was fought next to israels boaders, not iran's.

Re: Officials: Israel's Gaza Offensive Was Training For A Possible Fight With Iran
Nice history data? Thanks, you're welcome.

As for the rest? Heard it all before. You're just like a lot of others who cannot, and will not pay any attention to facts.

Facts get in your way, and you just blow more crap out your mouth.

Shall we talk about Gaza, for example?

Let's!

It was under Egyptian control.

May19, 1967, Cairo Radio

"This is our chance Arabs, to deal Israel a mortal blow of annihilation, to blot out its entire presence in our holy land."

May 22, 1967 - "The Arab people is firmly resolved to wipe Israel off the map."

May 30, 1967 - "With the closing of the Gulf of Akaba, Israel is faced with two alternatives, either of which will destroy it; either it will be strangled to death by the Arab military and economic boycott, or it will perish by the fire of Arab forces encompassing it from the South, from the North, and from the East."

June 1, 1967 - Palestinians said, "We shall destroy Israel and its inhabitants, and as for the survivors - if there are any - the boats are ready to deport them."

May 20, 1967 Syrian Defense Minister Assad, said, " . . . I as a military man, believe the time has come to enter into a battle if annihilation."

May 31, 1967, Iraqi President Aref said, "The existence of Israel is an error which must be rectified. This is an opportunity to wipe out the ignominy which has been with us since 1948. Our goal is clear - to wipe Israel off the map. We shall, Allah willing, meet in Tel Aviv and Haifa."

So Egypt lined up 100,000 men and 1,000 tanks on the southern border, Jordan put 45,000 men in the West Bank, and Syria reinforced the dug in positions at the Golan Heights some 40,000 troops, 260 tanks and self-propelled guns, all in concrete bunkers, behind massive mine fields, and 265 artillery pieces.

Altogether, Israel could only field 45,000 men and 650 tanks which would have to be split among three fronts.

Not a snowball's chance in hell.

But they kicked everyone's ass. Took all of Gaza, the Golan Heights, the West Bank, and even the entire Sinai penninsula.

Thus, Gaza came under Israeli rule. Israel didn't want Gaza, but it came with the territory.

The Israelis tried to return Gaza in the Israeli/Egyptian peace talks occurred in 1979, but Egypt wanted no part of Gaza.

A primary source of suicide bombings, kidnappings with murder, and rocket attacks are now being addressed by blocking off the source of these attacks.

You crap in your nest, you sleep in it.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28149258

It gets worse. Much worse.

One of THE Architechts of the Holocaust was... Palestinian religious leader -- Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin Al-Husseini. (who just happened to also be the uncle to the Egyptian master-terrorist, Yassir Arafat). He pushed and prodded Hitler back in 1930's to expedite the Final Solution to the Jewish Problem.

Then in the late 1940's you have the Arab League Secretary-General who was euphorically proclaiming that the combined Arab armies were going to snuff the newborn Jewish State in its craddle: i.e. to effect "a momenteous massacre [of the Jews] on par with Ghengis Khan and the Crusades"

Then there was the brazen Arab armies attack on Israel on THE Holiest day of the year, Yom Kippur... in order to overwhelm the unsuspecting Jews in 1973. Initally it looked like Israel was going to be destroyed. But it all ended with Ariel Sharon encircling Egyptian 3rd army not far from Cairo. Ooops.

Then there was the "Turkey Shoot" in Bekaa Valley in 1982... to this day truly unprecedented arial domination that is even more impressive than the aformentioned 6-Day War. Soviet bosses Leonid Brezhnev and Yuri Andropov were so outraged, they almost fired the entire Soviet general staff, LOL. This is the battle that is credited with the beginning of the End of Soviet Empire. Brezhnev and Andropov were soon dead and, after Bekaa Valley, Gorbachev was not going to mess with Israel or the US/NATO militarily ever again -0----> enter Perestroika, Glosnost', Lech Walescza riots, fall of Berlin Wall, failed Augustn Putsch -----> then Gorbachev's offial dissolution of USSR in Dec. 1991.

I'd say Israel is WAY better than Sparta. Sparta could only fight, while Israel is full of all kinds of wonderous things & wonderful people who greatly contribute to development & progress of ALL aspects of the Modern Human Civilization.

 Quoting: ASV 28337851

More people should root and support Israel if only because if the tiny Israel manages to stick it up the giggy of first Marxist, and then Muslim Beast... then all other nationalitities, ethnicities, religions and ideologies are SAFE from the Orwellian Hell (whether Communist, Fascist or Islamist).

Re: Officials: Israel's Gaza Offensive Was Training For A Possible Fight With Iran
OP. i realise you are just reporting but there are many so called officials who make biased claims in order to try and save face for Israel.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5449673

You have you teeth into it but not quite there. You are still playing into their agenda. You have to realise that neither you nor I set the date for this UN meeting recognising Palestinian as a state and for events to play out the way you mentioned it could. Do you think the timing of this meeting and the bombing we witnessed is just one big act of coincidence?

Israel is playing out an agenda and since none of us materialised into something nor choose which part of the world we would be born into that now identifies us as a friend or foe to either party, I would suggest we don't buy into the agenda Israel is currently pushing.
 Quoting: Ohwell

my post does not mean i am taking sides against another. I simply report what i am observing even if the language used does not fit your liking.
If you read my post again you realise that i pointed out that Israel did indeed have an agenda.

Bwaaa-hahahaha.

You literally are WRONG about everything. Every. Thing.

About the Hamas still having heavier arsenal unused...about the purpose of Operation "Amud Anan". About Abbas's violation of Oslo Accords that will result in the collapse of PA...about the Iron Dome and its 90% intercept rate -- lol, you don't even know how Iron Dome works based on your ignorant remark.....or about whether Israel wanted to go into Gaza (hint: it did NOT, trust me)

Notice how after years and decades worth of promises about how they will defend Palestine to the last blood & how they will crush the "Zionist Aggressor"... when the moment of truth came last week, Iran, Syria, Hezbollah and Egypt all sat the fuck down and shut the fuck up .

Fits perfectly in the aformentioned history of Israel kicking the ass of much larger, more aggressive armies in this thread. Big Islamic rhetoric, little result.

Oh and... after Iran has for the 1st time ADMITTED their active role in arming terrorist organization like Hamas, PRC and Islamic Jihad with specific instruction to fire on Israeli civilians -- which is a WAR-CRIME.... Israel now has casus belli against Iran & its nuke program.

Iran doesn't realize the can of worms it inadvertedly opened up here. You'll see in the 3 months and will be shocked. Shocked. Enjoy and don't forget to bump this thread, ya malodorous limey slimey.

Nothing.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 28149258

This is probably the best post of 2012.

clappa
 Quoting: Carshy McCarsh

This is really stupid. Ancient Persia may have lost against the West, but that doesn't mean the West is impervious to defeat. The West lost to Muslims and before that to the Huns. And guess what, modern Iran is Muslim.

I know this sounds stupid, but it's just to highlight the stupidity of your contention, that just because something happened before means it must happen again, even in different form.

Besides, Israel is not Western nor part of the West. That's just your mind flying away to make illogical connections.

And finally, it doesn't matter what weaponry Iran uses, because what really matters is who wins or loses. Although if you must know, they use of a lot of Russian and self-made weapons.

yes, shahab missles are more or less like fajr.....are they retarded?

Re: Officials: Israel's Gaza Offensive Was Training For A Possible Fight With Iran
Think about it for at least a minute or so.

Let me see if I have this straight.
Israel FORCES Hamas to launch hundreds of missiles at them in order to see how it will be to attack Iran?
That's your theory?

Really?
Seriously?

Man is the stupidest animal on earth.

Re: Officials: Israel's Gaza Offensive Was Training For A Possible Fight With Iran
The eight-day Gaza offensive was a practice run for any future armed confrontation with Iran, U.S. and Israeli officials told The New York Times.
“In Operation Pillar of Defense, Israel was not confronting Gaza, but Iran,” Michael B. Oren, the Israeli ambassador to the United States and a military historian, told the Times.

lol, call that training against iran, hahaha what a joke

Iran did not have to do jack shiz, but watch how israel reacted over the 8 days, strengths and weakness. An other advantage is the battle was fought next to israels boaders, not iran's.

In any war sceen, israel will have to do that, plus some, just to get near iran.

All this war did was let israels defence get probed for weaknesses

So... when "someone" destoyed a Syrian nuke facility, headed by North Korean expert and paid for by Iran in September 2007.... Iran did what exactly to retaliate?

When all those nuke scientists were dropping like flies in the most secure area of Teheran... Iran did what exactly to retaliate?

When Iran-Hamas chief weapons liaison Mahmoud al-Mahbouh had his his whole "accidental cessation of breathing" thingy in Dubai in February 2010... Iran did what exactly to retaliate?

When multiple long arms convoys paid for by Iran and on their way to Hamas, were bombed along the Sudanese coast in 2009, 2010, 2011.... Iran did what exactly to retaliate?

When, um, "someone" blew up a HUGE arms factory & storage in Khartoum, Sudan built and supervised by Iranians elite forces in late October....in the process destroying the only reliable route for arms delivery to Hamas and Islamic Jihad... Iran did what exactly?

When 5 top Russian nuclear scientists reportedly on Iran's payroll plane mysteriously crashed in Russia in 2010 --- Iran did what exactly in retaliation?

When 2/3 of Iran's long-range Shahab-3 missiles were blown up and Iran's chief missile expert killed in November 2011.... Iran did what exactly to retaliate?

When a factory making specia alloys/metals needed for uranium enrichment centrifuges & rumoured to be staffed with North Korean experts... was blown up in Spring 2012.... Iran did what exactly to retaliate?

When Iran has come under 4 rounds of sanctions at Bibi Netanyahu'a urging/threats.......the latest round being so damaging to Iran's economy that its currency Rial has lost 3/4 of its value in just last 3-4 months.... Iran did what to retaliate?

Speaking of that Syrian nuke facility in 2007...when less than a year later the de-facto Head of the Syrian Atomic Program that was bankrolled by Teheran, General Mohammad Suleiman was on vacation on the heavily guarded Syrian coastal resort and a small, non-descript motor-boat slowly approached the beach where General Suleiman and his bodyguards were chilling ---- and WHOOSH no discernable sound, no flash from the boat that by that point quietly turned around and sailed away, but Geberal Suleiman's head and chest were suddenly a mangled wreck..... Iran did what to retaliate?

Same year, Iran's golden boy, Hezbollah's weapons-procurement chief, the elusive terror-mastermind Imad Mugniye -- the man responsible for 1983 US marine barracks blast that more Americans than any event before 9/11.... so when one fine day that elusive Imag Mugniye left a private party in Damascus that noone was supposed to know about, and sat in his SUV ready to drive off, not knowing that certain, um, someone had rigged the head-rest of the driver's seat with an explosive ---> KABOOM!!!!

Iran did what to retaliate?
