Re: Boycotting Christmas consumerism/materialism.
we have never celebrated jesus's birthday on christmas.
its the best family time in the world.
whats wrong with eating a big dinner.
hanging out with your whole family.
xmas tree and lights all over.
drinking.
watching movies.
playing games.
just relaxing with your family.
i love christmas.
just because some one less fortunate doesnt get to experience it why should i feel bad about it?

You shouldn't feel bad about ^^THIS^^. You may feel some emotion about this video.

the world isnt fair.
if i give my money to the poor.
then that would just make 2 poor people.
why should everyone expect to get the same as everyone?
re distribution of wealth?

Do you grasp your "gold" so tightly that you can't let go of a single coin? I doubt if the real-life kids that this video tries to depict are expecting a single thing.

And my voluntary giving is not "redistribution" of anything. It is a gift.

I donated 25% of my paycheck today to poor people instead of doing 'black friday' shopping.

SCREW Retailers.

Everyone I know is getting a bible for Christmas. That's their only present.

If they don't like it, who cares.

Dec. 25th has always been a lie anyway. A holiday put in place by ROME to worship their 'sun god', NOT Jesus.

Any meaning of Jesus it may have had has been dead for years anyway, slain by idiot retailers trying to cash in on some stupid people that have no idea what the holiday is 'supposed' to represent anyway.

Really? Do you even know what you're talking about when you say re-distribution of wealth? You're just trying to get out of giving to those who need it much more than you do.

I haven't even read the first page yet but had to reply. This is amazing. I was in the process of trying to compose a message to my friends asking them not to buy us anything this year for Christmas and instead make a charitable donation to the charity of their choice.

I want to say it as tactfully as possible without it sounding like we were too cheap to buy them anything. I am asking that instead of a gift they simply send us a card with a personal note that they were thinking of us - and if they chose to they could send $5 to a charity.

I want to also ask what their charity of choice was and we would make a donation in their name.

This, to me, is the meaning of Christmas/Hanukkah. The materialism has gotten out of hand.

If anyone has already done a note like this, could you post how you worded it? If it is already in the thread, my apologies.

You probably won't believe this, but I thought today of starting a thread about "boycotting christmas" this year.

I got involved in other things today, come back to the forum and here is this thread, with the exact same words that popped into my head this morning.

Strange.........even more strange because I've never considered even saying anything like that before.

And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.

They ARE pretty, BUT, the Father says this: Jer/YermeYahu 10:1-5:

Hear what Yahuah says to you, O house of Israel. This is what Yahuah says:

"Do not learn the ways of the nations or be terrified by signs in the sky,

though the nations are terrified by them. For the customs of the peoples are worthless;

they cut a tree out of the forest, and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.

They adorn it with silver and gold; they fasten it with hammer and nails so it will not totter. Like a scarecrow in a melon patch, their idols cannot speak; they must be carried because they cannot walk.

Do not fear them; they can do no harm, nor can they do any good."

I have given their gift cards as Christmas presents for years now. I say on the card, "a gift of chicks, or a goat or whatever has been given to a family your name". Its much better than spending money on a gift they may not even want.

The birth date of Jesus is not in scripture.

So why are people celebrating Dec. 25th as his birthday?
 Quoting: Shelia Deville

Jesus was born on August 21

(1351.5) 122:8.1 All that night Mary was restless so that neither of them slept much. By the break of day the pangs of childbirth were well in evidence, and at noon, August 21, 7 B.C., with the help and kind ministrations of women fellow travelers, Mary was delivered of a male child. Jesus of Nazareth was born into the world, was wrapped in the clothes which Mary had brought along for such a possible contingency, and laid in a near-by manger.
