hey my name is "SHEP" and i totally understand what this doctor might be saying. i have A.D.D. and asthma my whole life. when i was 14 they gave me adderall and i stopped it 2 years later and now i never feel normal without amphetamines. :( i always have stomach issues and I(even when completely sober) feel weird..tired like i don't know whats going on around me and i get concerned about whether or not i was supposed to do something. it has always gotten me depressed and find myself unsocial,and i will usually start resorting to narcotics, alcohol, and/or sex.
using amphetamines helps with my asthma and my attention, but not my health nor my long term goals. the alcohol helps out on some social anxieties but its usually short lived. some would say to stop the narcotics and alcohol but they show me no alternative to my symptoms every time i try. im stuck between a rock and a hard place...(i think.)

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35191820  the alcohol and drugs are whats sometimes called self medicating-using things(that sometimes have bigger negatives to them than benefits)to control certain effects you experience without relying on pharmaceuticals. Please try look at some of this stuff. and thankyou for sharing a bit of yourself here. Be brave try not accept pharmaceuticals(thwe long term effects can be tragic and like the illicit stuff or sex-it doesnt fix the cause. Ive also been helped in many ways by radically changing diet-no nuts, not gluten and definately no white flour or refined sugars.Its not alsways aboutsore tummys and allergies, like you said sometimes the effects are in moods/temperament/mindset.
